About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and collaborative Director of Engineering to lead our multidisciplinary engineering team. At our core, we develop advanced hardware and testing solutions for the drone and aeronautics industries.

The ideal candidate is an inspiring engineering leader who excels at bridging the gap between high-level R&D and scalable product development. You will guide the team in establishing rigorous engineering methodologies, ensuring seamless transition of products to manufacturing, and fostering a highly collaborative culture. Working closely with executive leadership and the other directors, you will align technical roadmaps with business objectives while acting as a multiplier for your team's success.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Execution

• Provide high-level technical direction for the development of complex hardware systems, testing equipment, and integrated software/firmware.
• Establish and enforce rigorous engineering methodologies, ensuring meticulous technical documentation, robust calibration protocols, and adherence to industry standards.
• Oversee the stable transition of products from the R&D lab into manufacturing, actively mitigating risks related to production, calibration, and system stability.
• Anticipate technical hurdles through systems-level thinking, ensuring technical specifications and product capabilities are always accurately represented and backed by rigorous data.

Leadership & Team Building

• Lead, mentor, and scale a diverse engineering team, with a strategic focus on hiring and empowering senior-level talent to drive efficiency and innovation.
• Champion a collaborative engineering culture that actively breaks down inter-departmental silos and encourages open, constructive dialogue.
• Empower team leads and individual contributors to execute effectively while maintaining appropriate high-level oversight and accountability.

Strategic Alignment & Communication

• Act as a strategic partner to the CTO, ensuring continuous alignment on strategic milestones, resourcing, and engineering roadmaps.
• Promote clear, concise communication across the department, ensuring team meetings and technical discussions are focused, efficient, and drive actionable outcomes.
• Translate and distill complex technical challenges into clear executive summaries to facilitate data-driven decision-making at the leadership level.

Qualifications

• Experience: 15+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior management, Director, or Head of Engineering role.
• Technical Background: A strong multidisciplinary background in electronics, software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering. Deep understanding of hardware development lifecycles.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience in the drone, aeronautics, or hardware testing industries is highly preferred. Familiarity with load cells, aerodynamics, and dynamic/fatigue testing is a strong asset.
• Leadership Style: A proven track record of building and empowering high-performing teams, fostering accountability, and prioritizing organizational success.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with a proactive, data-driven approach to technical and operational challenges.
• Have the authorization to work in Canada
• Bilingual French and English highly preferred

Nous sommes à la recherche d'un(e) directeur(trice) de l'ingénierie d'expérience, stratégique et mobilisateur(trice) pour diriger une équipe d’ingénieurs multidisciplinaires. Au cœur de nos activités se trouvent le développement de matériel de pointe et de solutions d’essais destinés aux industries des drones et de l'aéronautique.

La personne idéale est un(e) leader inspirant(e) capable de faire le pont entre la recherche et développement de haut niveau et le développement de produits industrialisables. Vous guiderez l'équipe dans la mise en place de méthodologies d'ingénierie rigoureuses, assurerez une transition harmonieuse des produits vers la fabrication et favorisez une culture de collaboration. En travaillant étroitement avec la direction et les autres directeurs, vous alignez les feuilles de route techniques sur les objectifs d'affaires tout en maximisant la performance de votre équipe.

Principales responsabilités

Leadership technique et exécution

• Fournir une orientation technique de haut niveau pour le développement de systèmes complexes, d'équipements d'essais ainsi que de logiciels et micrologiciels intégrés.
• Mettre en place et faire respecter des méthodologies d'ingénierie rigoureuses, incluant une documentation technique complète, des protocoles d'étalonnage robustes et le respect des normes de l'industrie.
• Superviser la transition stable des produits du laboratoire de R-D vers la fabrication en réduisant activement les risques liés à la production, à l'étalonnage et à la stabilité des systèmes.
• Anticiper les défis techniques grâce à une vision systémique, en veillant à ce que les spécifications techniques et les performances des produits soient toujours exactes et appuyées par des données rigoureuses.

Leadership et développement de l'équipe

• Diriger, encadrer et faire croître une équipe d'ingénierie diversifiée, avec un accent stratégique sur le recrutement et le développement de talents seniors afin d'accroître l'efficacité et l'innovation.
• Promouvoir une culture d'ingénierie collaborative qui élimine les silos entre les départements et favorise des échanges ouverts et constructifs.
• Donner aux chefs d'équipe et aux contributeurs individuels les moyens de réussir tout en maintenant un niveau approprié de supervision et de responsabilisation.

Alignement stratégique et communication

• Agir comme partenaire stratégique du directeur de la technologie (CTO) afin d'assurer un alignement constant sur les priorités stratégiques, les ressources et les feuilles de route de l'ingénierie.
• Favoriser une communication claire et concise au sein du département afin que les réunions d'équipe et les discussions techniques soient ciblées, efficaces et orientées vers des résultats concrets.
• Synthétiser des enjeux techniques complexes en résumés clairs destinés à la direction afin de faciliter une prise de décision fondée sur les données.

Qualifications

• Expérience : 15 ans d'expérience en ingénierie minimum, dont au moins 5 ans dans un poste de haute direction, de directeur(trice) ou de responsable de l'ingénierie.
• Formation technique : Solide expérience multidisciplinaire en électronique, développement logiciel, ingénierie mécanique et fabrication. Excellente compréhension du cycle de développement de produits matériels.
• Connaissance du secteur : Une expérience dans les domaines des drones, de l'aéronautique ou des équipements d'essais est fortement souhaitée. Une connaissance des cellules de charge, l'aérodynamique ainsi que des essais dynamiques et de fatigue constitue un atout important.
• Leadership : Expérience démontrée dans la création et le développement d'équipes performantes, la promotion de l'imputabilité et la priorité accordée à la réussite de l'organisation.
• Communication : Excellentes aptitudes en communication orale et écrite, avec une capacité à collaborer efficacement avec tous les niveaux de l'organisation.
• Résolution de problèmes : Excellentes capacités d'analyse et approche proactive fondée sur les données pour résoudre les défis techniques et opérationnels.
• Être autorisé(e) à travailler au Canada.
• Le bilinguisme français-anglais est fortement souhaité.
