Project Coordinator – Civil Construction


Location: Surrey/Langley Head Office and North Vancouver Project Site

Salary: $65,499–$95,499 per year, depending on experience


Our client is an established civil contractor specializing in excavation, shoring and underground utilities construction throughout the Vancouver Lower Mainland. They are seeking a Project Coordinator to support the delivery of a major marine terminal project in North Vancouver involving extensive groundwork, excavation, shoring and concrete scopes.


Working closely with the Project Manager and site team, the successful candidate will help coordinate project documentation, procurement, scheduling, field activities, quality control and cost tracking to ensure the work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.



Must Haves


  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Civil construction experience involving excavation, earthworks, utilities, shoring or concrete.
  • Ability to read civil drawings, specifications and construction documents.
  • Strong organization, communication and document-control skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to work in North Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.



Nice to Haves


  • Previous Project Coordinator experience with a civil contractor.
  • Experience with excavation, shoring, concrete or underground utilities.
  • Exposure to marine, industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with scheduling, cost tracking, procurement and change orders.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, Procore or similar software.
  • Knowledge of civil construction quality and safety requirements.



Responsibilities


  • Support the Project Manager and site leadership team with the planning and delivery of excavation, shoring, underground utility and concrete scopes.
  • Maintain project document control, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, site instructions, meeting minutes and correspondence.
  • Assist with the preparation and updating of project schedules, look-ahead plans, work plans and construction sequencing documents.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal teams to support efficient field operations.
  • Track quantities, labour, equipment, materials and subcontractor progress against the project schedule and budget.
  • Prepare purchase orders, subcontract documentation, change-order records and supporting information for progress billings.
  • Coordinate material procurement, fabrication, delivery schedules and site logistics to ensure materials are available when required.
  • Assist with reviewing drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies and preparing RFIs for clarification.
  • Support the interpretation of survey information, elevations, grades, layouts and other technical project requirements.
  • Help implement and maintain project-specific quality plans, inspection records, testing documentation and deficiency tracking.
  • Participate in project meetings, safety meetings, coordination meetings and planning sessions.
  • Prepare daily reports, progress updates, photo documentation and other records required to accurately document the work.
  • Assist with monitoring subcontractor performance and confirming that work is completed safely and in accordance with drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Support project closeout activities, including as-built drawings, turnover documentation, deficiency completion and final records.
  • Perform additional coordination and administrative duties as required to support the successful completion of the project.
