Job description

Boxhub is not only a tech company - we sell shipping containers to people who need them. Every day, our teams navigate complex logistics, customer needs, and specialized product lines that go far beyond a standard steel box. The Operations Coordinator is a key role at the intersection of supply chain, procurement, project management, and customer experience, built for someone who thrives on complexity and takes ownership end-to-end.

Our Mission

Shipping containers transport 90-95% of the world's goods. Without them, the global supply chain would grind to a halt. Our reliance on them is incredible - but the way they're traded isn't.

At Boxhub, we're on a mission to make shipping container trade easy and efficient for everyone. We believe greater access to retired shipping containers can help people live smarter, entrepreneurs create quicker, and businesses grow faster. By extending the life of shipping containers and reducing the carbon-heavy practice of empty repositioning, our vision is to build a more sustainable world - one container at a time.

The Operations Team is committed to translating this vision into reality by elevating the supply chain, logistics, and customer success functions. We confront intricate challenges daily by employing strategic thinking and data analysis to enhance the entire container lifecycle, aiming to delight our end customers and inject innovation into an otherwise conventional sector.

Your Mission

As Operations Coordinator, you will own a diverse and high-impact set of responsibilities spanning procurement, vendor relationships, specialized inventory, and customer-facing project delivery. This is not a siloed role - you will be the connective tissue between suppliers, internal teams, and customers, taking on the challenge of procuring inventory from our suppliers and utilizing our extensive network of carriers to fulfill customer orders at the most competitive price and speed, while also owning several of Boxhub's most complex and differentiated product lines end-to-end.

This role requires someone who can independently reason through incomplete information, weigh trade-offs, and make sound judgment calls - not just follow a playbook.

Inventory Procurement & Logistics:

  • Planning and executing container procurement to ensure orders are fulfilled in a timely manner across operational markets.
  • Developing strategies to procure containers in the most cost-effective way while not compromising on their quality.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to secure the best pricing, ensuring containers are to specification.
  • Supporting administration of effective inventory management and order processing — ensuring we aren't holding on to aging inventory, and that inventory is correctly accounted for in the inventory management system.
  • Coordinating deliveries with our extensive network of trucking partners.
  • Directly supporting our customers and delivering a best-in-class experience.
  • Diagnosing the root cause of real-time operational issues — not just the symptom — weighing multiple resolution paths with a cross-functional team before acting.
  • Collaborating closely with sales and engineering to evolve our supply and logistics products, ensuring a best-in-class experience for customers and partners.
  • Identifying patterns or inefficiencies in procurement, delivery, or inventory data and proposing data-backed changes to how we operate.

Modkits & Accessories:

End-to-end ownership of the Modkit accessories program — vendor sourcing, stock monitoring, delivery tracking, and warranty/defect resolution.

Container Modification Projects:

  • Vendor Management & Quoting: Building relationships with modification companies nationwide and developing accurate, competitive quotes with fabrication partners.
  • Fulfillment & Execution: Coordinating suppliers and mod shops to keep projects on time and to spec, while serving as the primary customer contact through delivery.

Specialty Units & Inventory Reconciliation:

Sourcing and pricing specialty units competitively, plus coordinating pre-sale and pre-delivery reefer inspections with qualified technicians and managing any remediation required.

Value Added Services / Products:

Identifying opportunities to bring Boxhub's value-added services into customer engagements and coordinating their delivery as we scale this offering.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, inventory management, procurement, logistics, operations, or project management — you understand the end-to-end supply chain lifecycle and are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across complex workflows.
  • Strong commercial instinct: you know how to balance customer needs, supplier relationships, and margin, and you make smart, sound decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage multiple active projects and conflicting priorities without dropping the ball.
  • A clear communicator, both internally and externally — customers, vendors, and teammates all feel informed and confident when they're working with you.
  • Resourceful and proactive: you have the hands-on attitude and courage to challenge the status quo, backed by reasoning and evidence rather than just a willingness to push back. You don't wait to be told something is off track — you find the problem, flag it, and bring a solution.
  • Data-savvy and strategically minded: you can point to a specific decision you changed because of what the data showed you, and you're comfortable breaking down ambiguous or incomplete problems into clear next steps rather than waiting for perfect information.
  • Adaptable: we work with suppliers and trucking partners across the US from the East Coast to the West Coast, and work timing is adjusted accordingly to ensure full coverage.
  • Experience in logistics, the container industry, construction, or a related field is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or similar CRM platforms is nice to have.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary depending on experience; the salary range for this role is $50,000–$70,000 with a possibility of going up to $62,000–$82,000 via target-based incentives.
  • Stock Options
  • 4-6 weeks of annual vacation
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits plan, including dental, vision, and a spending account you get access to on day 1
  • Flexible working hours in a remote-first environment
  • Join a multicultural team that has built successful startups around the world
