Role Description The Electrical Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. In this position, the individual prepares and revises detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts for projects. The Electrical Drafter works closely with electrical engineers and project teams to incorporate design changes, maintain document control, and support the delivery of turnkey engineering solutions. The role also involves reviewing drawings for quality, updating documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement of drafting processes. Day-to-day tasks include: - Produce 2D electrical design deliverables in accordance with client specification and policies to a high quality standard using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation - Apply design knowledge in area classification, power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, cabinetry and equipment specification and selection - Perform 3D modeling as required by project - Participate in Field Investigation studies and develop accurate reports / sketches for use in project design efforts - Interact with all disciplines at project meetings, model reviews, etc. - Collaborate with E&IC engineers to provide support, assistance, contribute solutions and introduce efficiencies - Participate in design coordination with engineers and other technical discipline design leads in the completion of drawing packages - Review and check design drawings and vendor shop drawings - Contribute to estimating, scheduling and status reporting on assigned projects - Independently evaluate, select and apply standard design techniques, procedures and criteria - As-Built drawings and final reporting Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess: - 5+ years’ experience in oil & gas industry in the field of electrical engineering design - Completion of a 2-year SAIT/NAIT or equivalent diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology - Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation - Foundational knowledge of Electricity and Electrical Engineering principles relevant to drafting and design. - Working familiarity with CEC (Canadian Electrical Code), other applicable codes including CEC, ISA, API and Alberta Oil and Gas Codes - Knowledge of 3D modeling and application of discipline specific design criteria, codes, standard practices and theories - Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members and other department individuals - Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines. - Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multi-disciplinary project teams, both verbal and written What Catch Offers - Comprehensive benefits package, including HealthCare Spending Account, RRSP matching, and 11 statutory holidays. - Hybrid work flexibility, balancing in-office collaboration with remote work options. - A pet-friendly office — (friendly, quiet, house-trained) dogs are welcome! 🐾 - An annual training and development budget provided for each department to encourage ongoing learning. - Opportunities for professional growth and development, supported through training, mentorship, and career advancement pathways. - A collaborative work environment with a strong focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
