Job descriptionJob title: Assistant General Manager Location: Canada About the client and role Our client, a leading global Tier 1 automotive supplier, is searching for an Assistant General Manager to support the leadership of two manufacturing facilities in Canada. This position offers a clear succession opportunity, with the successful candidate being developed to take over the General Manager position. Responsibilities - Support the General Manager in leading the overall performance of two manufacturing facilities with approximately 170 employees. - Oversee key operational functions, including Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, IT, and Finance. - Improve plant performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and operational efficiency. - Develop a complete understanding of the business, including its customers, products, manufacturing processes, and commercial objectives. - Support P&L management, forecasting, budgeting, capital expenditure, and financial decision-making. - Control operating costs and improve efficiency within the recently acquired facility. - Lead turnaround, restructuring, and continuous improvement activities across both locations. - Drive improvements in manufacturing processes - Build and maintain a positive, accountable, and performance-focused culture across both facilities. - Communicate effectively with employees, customers, suppliers, and senior leadership. - Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational performance, and future business growth. - Work closely with the General Manager to prepare for progression into the full General Manager position. Skills and Qualifications - Previous leadership experience within automotive or industrial manufacturing. - Strong experience in metal manufacturing - Experience operating at Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager, Plant Manager, or General Manager level. - Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with P&L, budgets, forecasting, and capital expenditure. - Commercially minded, with the ability to understand how the business operates and make decisions that support profitability and growth. - Experience leading operational improvement, turnaround, or restructuring initiatives. - Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams and drive accountability. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to integrate into an established plant culture and build strong relationships across all levels of the business. - Willingness and ability to oversee two manufacturing locations. - Candidates should ideally be based locally or within a commutable distance of the facilities in Canada.
