Procurement Specialist

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Procurement Specialist on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional looking to take the next step in their career within a large, growing organization. The successful candidate will support a high-volume procurement portfolio while partnering closely with operations, suppliers, and category management to drive cost savings, improve supplier performance, and support strategic sourcing initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, analytical, and relationship-driven, with strong business acumen and a passion for building partnerships across the organization. You'll gain exposure to a large procurement operation with significant opportunities for mentorship and long-term career growth.

Responsibilities

• Support the procurement of goods and services by executing sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Coordinate RFx activities, supplier evaluations, and contract implementation in collaboration with Procurement and Category Management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal business stakeholders.
• Negotiate pricing, service levels, and commercial terms under the guidance of Procurement leadership.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while supporting continuous process improvements.
• Analyze procurement and spend data using advanced Excel and Business Intelligence tools to identify trends and opportunities.
• Prepare procurement reports, supplier performance metrics, and spend analysis for leadership.
• Support plant capital projects by coordinating procurement activities throughout the RFx process.
• Monitor supplier performance, contract compliance, and procurement KPIs.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Qualifications - Must-Haves

• University degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
• 2–5 years of procurement experience with exposure to strategic sourcing and supply chain processes.
• Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel experience.
• Experience using Business Intelligence tools (Power BI or similar) to analyze and present procurement data.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively solve problems.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience within manufacturing, construction, mining, building materials, or other industrial environments.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
• Experience with eRFQ, eAuction, or other strategic sourcing platforms.
• Knowledge of equipment, maintenance services, CAPEX procurement, or plant operations.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to travel within Canada and to the United States as required.
