The Opportunity

Design What Comes Next

Join our Water & Wastewater Conveyance team in the Greater Toronto Area and help shape the infrastructure that communities rely on every day. As a Senior Conveyance Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects across Ontario and Canada.

In this role, you will guide multidisciplinary teams, build trusted client relationships, mentor emerging professionals, and contribute to the growth of WSP’s Conveyance practice through technical leadership, project delivery, and strategic business development.

Your Impact

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance infrastructure projects, including watermains, sewers, forcemains, pump stations, trunk sewers, and large-diameter pipelines.
  • Develop and review engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and detailed design submissions.
  • Solve complex engineering challenges by developing practical, cost-effective design solutions that support resilient communities and sustainable infrastructure.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams across structural, geotechnical, environmental, mechanical, electrical, drafting, inspection, and support disciplines.
  • Provide construction-phase technical support, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, site visits, contractor coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Provide technical leadership, QA/QC review, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers, designers, and technologists.
  • Support project managers with scope, budget, schedule, resourcing, risk, and overall project delivery.
  • Contribute to proposals, strategic pursuits, client meetings, industry events, and business development initiatives that help grow WSP’s Conveyance practice.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer designation in Ontario, or eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience planning, designing, and delivering pipelines, watermains, sewers, forcemains, pump stations, and related conveyance infrastructure.
  • Strong ability to prepare and review design reports, contract drawings, specifications, cost estimates, technical submissions, proposals, and client deliverables.
  • Experience leading technical assignments, coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, and supporting competitive municipal infrastructure pursuits.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic modelling concepts and industry-standard software; experience with Municipal Class Environmental Assessments, environmental approvals, or trenchless technologies is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong client, agency, contractor, colleague, and stakeholder relationships while delivering high-quality work in a collaborative environment.
