Events and Engagement Coordinator Indigenization and EDI

Regular Full-time

Duties: Reporting to the Executive Director, Indigenization & Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (I-EDI), the Events and Engagement Coordinator promotes College-wide engagement and belonging by coordinating cultural events, gatherings, and activities that reflect Indigenous worldviews and diverse perspectives. The position plans and delivers a regular calendar of events and observances related to I-EDI, coordinates participation of Elders, Knowledge Holders, community partners, and speakers, and helps create visible and welcoming campus spaces where students, employees, and community-members feel connected and represented. The position collaborates across the College to embed Indigenization and EDI perspectives into employee and student engagement, services, outreach, and campus events.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Certificate or Diploma in Indigenous Studies, Human Services, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of experience coordinating events, community engagement activities, or related initiatives. An equivalent combination of education, cultural knowledge, and relevant experience will be considered. The ideal candidate demonstrates experience working collaboratively with diverse communities, including Indigenous and equity-deserving learners, and supporting equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenization, or community engagement initiatives. They possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, strong organizational and project management abilities, and the capacity to adapt to changing priorities while working independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, and experience with virtual engagement platforms such as Zoom or Teams is an asset. A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is required. A high level of professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and respect for the worldviews of students, colleagues, and community partners is essential.

Salary: CUPE Pay Level 4 with a starting wage of $46,810.40 per year with increments progressing to Step 5 as per the CUPE Collective Agreement. The College also offers a comprehensive range of benefits including defined pension, generous vacation entitlements, health and dental plans, and more.
