Roles and Responsibilities:
The person will be responsible for IBM FileNet / Enterprise Content Management application development, enhancement, maintenance and production support activities.
The role requires hands-on experience in:
• IBM FileNet
• IBM Content Navigator
• Java/J2EE
• Unix
• Incident, service request and change processes using Service Management tools
Key Accountabilities:
• Understand business requirements, incidents, service requests and change requests related to IBM FileNet and enterprise content management applications.
• Develop, enhance, configure and support IBM FileNet based application components, repositories, workflows, document classes, metadata and security configurations as per technical design.
• Configure and support IBM Content Navigator functions such as desktops, repositories, searches, viewer behavior, teamspaces, menus and plug-in related components.
• Develop and maintain Java/J2EE components, utilities, APIs, integrations, batch jobs and support scripts related to FileNet and Content Navigator applications.
• Perform Unix/Linux support activities including log analysis, basic shell commands, script execution, file permission checks and deployment validation.
• Troubleshoot issues related to document upload/download, search, repository access, workflow processing, viewer behavior, application errors and integration failures.
• Write and execute unit test cases, support SIT/UAT, regression testing, deployment verification and post-production validation.
• Coordinate with technical lead, business users, application owners, infrastructure, database, middleware and vendor support teams for issue resolution.
• Prepare technical notes, configuration updates, SOPs, knowledge articles, deployment steps, release notes and support handover documents.
• Follow coding standards, secure development practices, access control, incident/change management and client delivery processes.
• Use Service Management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, BMC Remedy or equivalent for incident, service request, problem and change tracking.
• Contribute to application stability, recurring issue reduction, knowledge transfer and continuous improvement activities.
Experience Required:
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with business users, technical teams and support stakeholders.
• Minimum 4-6 years of IT experience with hands-on experience in IBM FileNet development, enhancement or application support.
• Experience with IBM FileNet / FileNet P8 components such as Content Platform Engine, object stores, document classes, metadata, security, workflow and search concepts.
• Hands-on exposure to IBM Content Navigator configuration, repositories, desktops, search templates, viewer troubleshooting and plug-in/customization support.
• Good Java/J2EE development experience including servlets, JSP, REST/SOAP web services, XML, JSON and application integration concepts.
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux commands, log analysis, file permissions, shell scripting basics and deployment support activities.
• Experience in L2/L3 support, root cause analysis, defect fixes, minor enhancements and production issue resolution.
• Knowledge of application servers such as WebSphere, JBoss or WebLogic and basic troubleshooting of application logs, JVM and deployments is preferred.
• Good to have experience using any Service Management tool such as ServiceNow, Jira, BMC Remedy or equivalent.
• Experience in preparing technical documentation, support runbooks, release notes and knowledge articles.
• Ability to work independently, coordinate with onsite/offshore teams and deliver assigned tasks within agreed timelines.
Technical Skills:
• IBM FileNet Content Manager / FileNet P8, Content Platform Engine, object stores, document classes, metadata, security, lifecycle, workflow and search concepts.
• IBM Content Navigator administration and support including desktops, repositories, teamspaces, searches, viewers, menus and plug-in related support.
• Java/J2EE, servlets, JSP, REST/SOAP web services, XML, JSON, APIs and enterprise application development concepts.
• Unix/Linux commands, shell scripting basics, log analysis, file system permissions and deployment validation.
• Application server awareness: WebSphere, JBoss or WebLogic, JVM basics, server logs and deployment troubleshooting.
• Database awareness, SQL basics, repository connectivity troubleshooting and coordination with DBA teams.
• Content migration, document ingestion, metadata update utilities and batch processing experience is preferred.
• Source control and delivery tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins or equivalent tools.
• Service Management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, BMC Remedy or equivalent for incident, service request, problem and change tracking.
• Security and compliance awareness for document repositories, access control, audit trails and enterprise content platforms.
