Known for providing strategic counsel to employers across a broad range of industries, the firm offers a collaborative, high-performing environment where legal professionals are given meaningful responsibility and exposure to sophisticated matters.Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant or Law Clerk to provide direct support to a Partner with a busy and thriving practice.
Your new role
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a leading practitioner in a specialized area of law. Acting as a trusted member of the legal team, you will play a key role in managing files, coordinating legal processes, and ensuring exceptional client service.Key responsibilities include:
- Managing calendars, meetings, deadlines, and travel arrangements
- Preparing, formatting, revising, and proofreading legal documents and correspondence
- Drafting routine legal documentation and clientmunications
- Coordinating workplace investigation files and administrative proceedings
- Preparing materials for mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court matters
- Filing documents with tribunals, boards, and courts as required
- Conducting conflict searches and opening new files
- Managing document production, file organization, and document databases
- Liaising with clients, opposing counsel, tribunals, and other stakeholders
- Entering dockets, preparing accounts, and assisting with billing administration
- Monitoring deadlines and ensuringpliance with procedural requirements
This role offers substantial exposure to labour, employment, workplace investigations, human rights, and occupational health and safety matters.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk in a law firm environment
- Prior experience in labour and employment law (HRTO, specifically) is strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail andmitment to accuracy
- Exceptional written and verbalmunication skills
- Experience supporting senior lawyers or partners in a busy practice
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems
- A proactive, client-focused approach and the ability to work independently
- Familiarity with court and tribunal filing procedures would be considered an asset
