The salary range for this position is CAD $38.88 - $55.89 / hour

Job Summary

Bring your demonstrated leadership and consultation skills to this exciting opportunity as a Data Analyst, Fraser Health's Centre for Advanced Analytics, Data Science, and Innovation (CAADSI) team. In this role, it leads a cross functional team of technical staff to develop, design, build, monitor, maintain and support a variety of data products used within designated programs/services. Your ability to work effectively and in collaboration/consultation with internal and external stakeholders will make you an ideal candidate for this role.

This is a Relief Full-Time position available until October 2027 and is based out of our Central City offices in Surrey, B.C—conveniently located near rapid transit.

  • Collaborates with business units and stakeholders to identify reporting needs, analyze current procedures, explore opportunities, reduce redundancies and ensure data gathering and reporting processes support corporate strategies and business objectives.
  • Designs and develops BI reporting solutions using reporting tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Provides detailed analysis, advice, insight, and interpretation from complex data across multiple sources.
  • Conducts performance reporting benchmarking and best practices research, makes recommendations for improvement, and facilitates the adoption of emerging analytical methodologies and technologies.
  • Develops and seeks continuous improvement to the performance reporting processes, including report automations and the coordination of reporting inputs, analyses and distributions.
  • Provides quality assurance and a value-added review of reporting inputs to promote high standards for quality and insight. Ensures the analytics solutions are aligned with CAADSI production standards and guidelines, such as data definitions and UI/UX visualizations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience in decision support, data analysis, performance reporting, and/or health care management.

Detailed Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:

The Data Analyst provides leadership and analytics support to the CAADSI department. Applying expert knowledge, the Data Analyst performs business intelligence (BI), data extraction, data analysis, and performance reporting to provide evidence-based review of service utilization, health interventions, technology and performance assessments. The Data Analyst plans and develops BI reporting by engaging with healthcare stakeholders across the organization, analyzing operational, clinical, financial, and human resource data and applying knowledge in performance measurement and benchmarking methodologies.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborates with business units and stakeholders to identify reporting needs, analyze current procedures, explore opportunities, reduce redundancies and ensure data gathering and reporting processes support corporate strategies and business objectives.
  2. Designs and develops BI reporting solutions using reporting tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
  3. Provides detailed analysis, advice, insight, and interpretation from complex data across multiple sources.
  4. Conducts performance reporting benchmarking and best practices research, makes recommendations for improvement, and facilitates the adoption of emerging analytical methodologies and technologies.
  5. Develops and seeks continuous improvement to the performance reporting processes, including report automations and the coordination of reporting inputs, analyses and distributions.
  6. Provides quality assurance and a value-added review of reporting inputs to promote high standards for quality and insight. Ensures the analytics solutions are aligned with CAADSI production standards and guidelines, such as data definitions and UI/UX visualizations.
  7. Provides expertise across different phases of system implementation life cycle to ensure reporting requirements meet established guidelines and standards, and performs corrective action as required.
  8. Prepares strategic business cases and supporting documents, briefing papers, strategic and tactical reports for an assigned area and/or portfolio for submission to Fraser Health Executive, Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
  9. Collaborates with members of the CAADSI department, senior management, staff of various organizational units and other internal and external stakeholders in support of the mission, philosophies and goals of Fraser Health.
  10. This includes synthesizing and analyzing data on patient services, interpreting information, participating in the development of recommendations for improvements in a continuous agile partnership, and performing tasks such as assisting in selecting appropriate outcome measures and furthering understanding of patient reported experience and outcome metrics.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or related applied quantitative scientific field, plus five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience in decision support, data analysis, performance reporting, and/or health care management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience with T-SQL and Power BI is preferred.

Professional/Technical Capabilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of the relational multidimensional database concepts.
  • Working knowledge of big data analytics and statistics.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to plan, organizer and prioritize work and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma and other flow process improvement concepts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the health care system.
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role within healthcare.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
