The Opportunity
Are you passionate about a subject and would like to teach others about it The City of St. Johns Recreation Division is currently seeking a motivated enthusiastic and energetic Adult Program Instructor who enjoys working with the public to teach Life Long Learners Programs.
Accountabilities
Adult Program Instructors must be comfortable planning developing and implementing program instruction to adults in a group setting. They will be required to have a specific content plan developed prior to the start of classes based on a topic that pertains to their educational field of expertise and perform in a direct leadership capacity to deliver weekly programs. Adult Program Instructors are required to request and maintain the necessary supplies required for the program and compile and monitor attendance of participants.
The successful applicant will be required to participate in all training programs applicable to this position and other related work. Qualifications
Recognized training/experience in continued education for older adults.
Experience in teaching educational programs in a group setting
General knowledge of current technology
Excellent communication skills
Experience working with older adults
Formal education with Diploma/Certificate or Degree in Education (i.e. History Folklore Geography Philosophy Social Sciences etc.)
Other Requirements
Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Record Screening Certificate AND Vulnerable Sector Check (or equivalent) Dated not more than six months prior to hire
Successful applicant would be expected to have the specific lesson plan content developed prior to the start of employment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires physical agility and stamina to carry out required duties.

Program Schedule: Mondays from 10:00am - 12:00pm weekly
Period of Employment
September 2026 - June 2027
