Job description

We are Paramount Commerce, a leading fintech company focused on simplifying payments in Canada. Since the early 2000s, we have redefined online purchasing by introducing a way to pay directly from a bank account, bypassing credit cards or e-wallets. Our commitment is to provide the highest standards of security and risk management that support seamless payments and rich data.

As we strengthen our position in Canada, we are strategically positioning ourselves for global expansion. To achieve our goals, we are seeking talented professionals who can push the boundaries of innovation, contributing to our growth across Canada and worldwide. Join us at Paramount Commerce, where we not only follow fintech trends but shape them

Ready to safeguard the future of digital payments? We’re looking for an ambitious Compliance Manager & AML Officer to serve as a key pillar in our Second Line of Defence (2LoD). Partnering directly with the Director, AML FIU & High Risk Client Management, you’ll tackle high-stakes financial crime risks, oversee complex EDD workflows, and keep our regulatory operations operating at gold-standard performance. We operate at FinTech speed: you are hands-on, relentlessly curious, and motivated by the challenge of mastering an evolving regulatory frontier.

What You'll Do

  • Transaction Monitoring & Investigations: Monitor continuous EFT flows to detect unusual patterns, execute deep-dive financial crime investigations, resolve complex sanctions and PEP alerts, and formulate risk-based exit recommendations for offboarding.
  • High-Risk Onboarding & EDD: Oversee EDD and SEDD operations, manage temporary KYC/CDD exception workflows with Senior Management and the CAMLO, and serve as the primary escalation point for complex onboarding inquiries.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Drive bulletproof execution of FINTRAC filings including Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Electronic Funds Transfer Reports (EFTRs) within mandatory thresholds, track regulatory shifts, and support policy and procedure updates.
  • Audit Readiness & Risk Methodology: Maintain the AML/ATF Risk Assessment Methodology for our EFT product scope, compile evidence packages for regulatory exams and legal subpoenas, track MAP remediation items, and support third-party risk evaluations.
  • Training & Advisory Culture: Develop and deliver targeted AML/ATF training modules for high-risk teams, officers, and Board members, tracking completion metrics and refreshing materials alongside operational changes.

Who You Are

  • Experienced 2LoD Professional: Proven track record in AML operations, financial crime investigations, or high-risk client management within a fast-paced, regulated financial services environment.
  • Fintech Regulatory Expert: Deep working knowledge of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), FINTRAC guidelines, economic sanctions, and Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA) frameworks.
  • High-Risk Onboarding & EDD Specialist: Hands-on experience evaluating complex corporate structures, managing SEDD/EDD mechanics, and evaluating high-risk customer portfolios in high-volume payment ecosystems.
  • Decisive Risk Evaluator: Confident making independent, risk-based determinations, evaluating transaction monitoring rules, and knowing precisely when to escalate edge cases to Senior Management.
  • Strong Technical Writer & Reporter: Exceptional formal writing skills, with the ability to draft clear procedures, defensible investigation reports, STR submissions, and executive risk summaries.

Why Paramount Commerce?

  • Canadian Company with over 22 years of history🇨🇦
  • Competitive salary + performance bonus
  • Generous Vacation + Summer Fridays
  • Health & Dental Benefits + Wellness Spending Account
  • Retirement savings matching plan
  • Hybrid work environment – Thursdays in Toronto office

  • Quarterly Socials & Volunteer Days

The salary range for this full-time position is: $90,000 - $130,000 CAD.
