Job descriptionTitle: Student Information Systems Technologist Start Date: Immediate Position Type: Permanent Position Open To: Internal & External Applicants Posting Overview: Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Coordinator of Systems Applications, the Student Information Systems Technologist is responsible for assisting in the integrity of the student information system and reports. The role will work closely with end users and external vendors to support the system to meet Board and Ministry requirements. The incumbent problem solves and provides a high-level support to the Planning & Reporting Officer, System Application team, and school-based staff regarding complex issues related to board and school procedures, ministry requirements, and month end enrolment management. Duties/Responsibilities: • Work with the System Application team in supporting school staff with procedures, high level complex issues, data accuracy in the student information system, and month end checks; • Assist the Planning and Reporting Officer in the support of ONSIS submissions related to the integrity of the student information system and reports; • Liaise with the Assistant Coordinator of System Applications to maintain and provide technical support related to enhancements and data integration in the student information system; • Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and validating all student information for accuracy using various technical skills and reports; • Assist in the development and writing of business system requirements and writing reports related to student information; • Assist in providing ongoing student information training and documentation development to support continued learning and improved ministry compliancy. Qualifications/Experience: • Minimum three-year diploma in Computer Studies, or degree in Computer Studies preferred; equivalent extensive relevant experience will be considered; • A minimum of 3 years related experience with Student Information Systems, service management, and account management with preference in a K-to-12 school board; • Experience using SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Report Services, PowerBI, SQL Database and writing SQL queries; • In-depth experience with core software applications including Student Information Systems, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office 365 Suite; • Experience writing business system requirements for enhancements and reports; • Knowledge and understanding of programming languages (e.g., Java, Python); • Knowledge and experience with Ontario’s educational data requirements and enrolment practices is an asset.
