Durham OneNet Inc is an independent Municipal Services Corporation, wholly owned by the Regional Municipality of Durham. Construction Inspector, OSP (Contract – 6 months; extension potential)
Reporting to and under the direction of the Sr. OSP Program Manager, the Construction Inspector responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Effectively understand and communicate project timelines, milestones, identified concerns and risks.
- Review preliminary permits, MC Designs, Right-Of-Way (ROW) considerations and requirements, and complete Site Surveys and Pre-Construction Walkthroughs with appropriate authorities (Townships/Durham Region).
- Complete weekly Project Site Inspections: Quality inspections on work as it is being performed, or work that has been recently completed, per Durham OneNet’s standard procedures and protocols, via established checklists and/or other quality related documents and digital tools.
- Provide Traffic Control Cabinet access for contractors as needed.
- Define and action a strategic response plan for customer/resident complaints and issues relating to contractor/project quality. Follow up and log communication.
- Control warehouse inventory flow; work alongside Procurement to schedule and prepare locations for material deliveries/transfers, and contractor releases/returns. Utilize appropriate software for tracking and receipts in real time.
- Monitor and maintain warehouse locations.
About you:
- At least 5 years of experience in Civil Construction; existing and new placement of underground infrastructure for telecommunications.
- A working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong background in placement of fibre-optic cable via aerial and underground construction.
- Ability to read and understand maps, Municipal Consent drawings, and splice diagrams for fibre construction.
- Moderate familiarity and ability to use computer and electronic equipment as part of a digital construction management project.
- Fibre, Fibre Network, and Outside Plant knowledge.
- History of adhering to strict safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- High degree of focus and attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs (27kg). and perform repetitive physical motions of bending, standing, climbing, and walking in construction zones.
- A valid drivers license and your own vehicle.
Additional Compensation: Durham OneNet offers project/warehouse mileage coverage.
