ABOUT YOU You are excited to join a team working to introduce Nova Scotia’s first electric school bus and contribute to meaningful, community-driven climate and health solutions.

You have a strong interest in sustainable transportation, greenhouse gas/pollution reduction, electric-grid resiliency, community engagement, and community health in Nova Scotia, or a demonstrated willingness to learn about these areas of climate action.

You bring experience in community engagement, are a proactive self-starter and are passionate about climate justice. About the Position : The Energy Coordinator will work to support and expand EAC’s transportation and grid electrification work, ensuring strong connections to diverse energy sector actors and linking energy policy and action to EAC’s campaigns.

The Coordinator’s relationship-building skills help advance the electric transportation and grid work through partnership development and community- and coalition-building.

They work in a collaborative, impact-orientated environment with their team and other EAC colleagues as well as community, public, and private sector partners. Key Responsibilities Project Management : Work with partners across Atlantic Canada to develop a Vehicle to Everything (V2X—a bidirectional technology that allows electric vehicles or EVs to consume and provide power) network for conversations regarding the bleeding edge technology and implementation across Atlantic Canada. Give regular presentations regarding incorporating V2X technology in school bus electrification adoption. Promoting local infrastructure growth to promote the benefits of municipal Medium and Heavy Duty Electric Vehicles (MHDV) and supporting confidence in provincial investment. Co-facilitating the electric school bus operators working group. Working with the EAC Transportation team and with municipalities on their MHDV electrification initiatives Promotion and distribution of the EAC’s Electric School Bus children’s book Ongoing provincial and federal advocacy for electric school bus mandates and investments Ensuring systems are in place to coordinate and track the successful and timely completion of electric transportation objectives Supervision of the Energy Officer working on electric vehicles Budget management and allocation of funds; completing financial and other funder reporting as required. Identifying and submitting electric vehicle and V2X-related grant proposals and supporting related fundraising efforts in conjunction with your supervisor and, in some cases, the fundraising team. Community & Stakeholder Engagement : Establishing and growing partnerships with organizations, institutions, and people in communities that are needed for program development, research deliverables, and participant recruitment. Establishing relationships and engagement strategies to ensure project opportunities are of interest to and taken up by participants from diverse communities. Creating outreach and recruitment materials. Contributing to EAC’s public communications efforts on energy and responding to media inquiries as appropriate. Engage and support volunteers. Research and Report Writing : Pursuing and advancing research partnerships that enhance electric transportation system data collection. Supporting the development of relevant documents and frameworks (e.g., evaluation framework, action plan, etc.). Other duties as required. Apply and tell us what you’d bring to the team. WHAT YOU BRING At least three years’ experience in project leadership and implementation. Clear knowledge of community-based energy system work. Strong decision-making skills, based on an ability to gather and analyze the information needed to understand and resolve problems. Proven skills as a relationship builder and talented at creating strong networks. Experience in research, data analysis, report writing, and project implementation. Experience in community engagement and development, including meeting coordination, group facilitation, and event planning. Strategic relational skills that function to connect actors across sectors and regions. A deep and abiding commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all its forms, and a cultivated ability to apply an anti-oppressive lens and framework to community development, project management, program design and delivery, and relationship building and repair. Strong organizational and priority settings skills An ability to get creative and innovate A proactive approach to funding and grant writing initiatives to support the advancement of electric transportation These additional skills, areas of knowledge, and experiences will be considered an asset: Background and/or education in environmental studies or resource management, business administration, communications, or public relations Experience working with non-profit and community organizations Relationships with African-Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaq communities TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time; 4-day, 30 hr work week, Monday - Thursday with some flexibility in the. workday.
