Job description

We kindly ask that job seekers only apply if they currently live in close proximity to Cambridge Ontario. Those currently outside of Canada will not be considered for this position.

At Cambridge Elevating, we are seeking someone to join our team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. We are the premium home elevator manufacturer for North America. Our purpose is to design and build the best home elevator equipment that allows people to age in place, build houses on a smaller plot of land, live their life with a higher degree of comfort, & overcome accessibility needs.

Our Mission: To create and uphold an atmosphere of excellence aimed at being the most responsive to our customers’ needs enabling us to support their success

Our Purpose: To design, manufacture, install & service premium Cambridge Elevating products that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. This is to be accomplished by:

·An unparalleled dedication to customer service

·A focus on attention to detail

·Proactively surpassing market driven demands

·Dealing with our employees and stakeholders in a fair and ethical manner

·Ensuring our employees work in a safe & healthy work environment

·Ensuring our actions have minimal impact on the environment

Core Behaviors: In an effort to elaborate on our Mission and Purpose, this list of core behaviors intends to sustain and strengthen the work environment we choose to come to each working day:

1.Treat all people with dignity and respect. This includes co-workers, customers, vendors, cleaning staff, the owner and anyone else you come into contact with while being a representative of Cambridge Elevating.

2.Honor the commitments you make. This builds trust and indicates reliability. This is something everyone looks for in all of their relationships. If you anticipate being unable to meet a commitment, communicate early to reset expectations. Deliberate planning is the best path to achieve honoring your commitments.

3.Make your expectations clear. Define what success is so people know exactly what is needed and why. Ambiguous or moving targets are frustrating and inefficient to achieve.

4.Be a member of the Cambridge Elevating team. Be reliable, accountable, helpful, and supportive of those around you – we’re all in this together.

5.Be Solution Focused. Always focus on blameless problem solving – blaming people or circumstance won’t improve the situation going forward. Focus on things we can control. Whether you have the right answer or not, propose a solution to every problem you encounter. It may be the solution we need, or it may spark the next great idea.

Position Goals (Near Term):

1.Gain fluency and become familiarized with current product offerings, designs, features, technologies, and governing standards.

2.Lead and take ownership of the development of the Low-Cost, Low-Capacity Electric unit as the primary responsibility. Become familiar with new product scope and timelines.

3.Become an integral part of the R&D Engineering team by leading or participating in product & process improvements.

2.Facilitate designs that add value to CE's brand and are befitting of our reputation.

3.Instate and uphold high standards while creating a safe learning environment and promoting accountability

5.Ability to use engineering principles and tools, such as CAD modeling and FEA (SolidWorks) and the ability to develop products that meet structural, safety and code requirements.

6.Possess a strong knowledge of DFM, FMEA, tolerance stack ups, BOM creation, and engineering documentation.

7.Adaptability is key to perform well in a department with dynamic needs tempered with focus to drive projects to completion.

8.Leadership experience (from work, community activities, sports or military service) is an asset.
