Site Description: Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital offers 24-hour emergency care. The hospital also has a total of 41 inpatient beds. There is a 28 beds Medicine/Surgery unit, which includes two palliative care rooms, each having its own adjoining private family area. There are also 8 OBS beds, 1 pediatric bed, and 4 ICU beds. Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital offers a range of programs and services. Wayfinding signage is displayed throughout the hospital.

Position: Security Officer

Site: Dr.G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital

Overtime (OT): OT after 48 hours/weekly

Payrate: $ 19.90

Posting Date: July 28,2026

Internal Closing Date: September 1st, 2026

Schedule: The schedule varies, but generally, you will work 2 weeks of days, then 2 weeks of nights with a mixture of 8 & 12-hour shifts.

Key responsibilities:
• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
Prerequisites:
• Valid vulnerable sector and criminal record check
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: All healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.
• Vaccination Documentation: Proof of completion of the full series of childhood/primary vaccinations is required.
• Tdap Vaccine: One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.
• Booster Requirement: A booster dose of tetanus toxoid-reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) is required every 10 years
• Covid Vaccine two doses
• Valid class 5 Driver License
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid training as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
