About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established civil contractor specializing in underground utility and municipal infrastructure projects throughout the Lower Mainland. They are seeking an experienced Civil Foreman to join their growing team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing field crews completing underground utility installations while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for a field leader who enjoys mentoring crews, driving productivity, and working on a variety of civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field crews performing underground utility installations, including sanitary sewer, storm, and watermain systems.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate daily construction activities to keep projects on schedule.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and inspectors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Read and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, and materials to maximize site productivity.
- Ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies, WorkSafeBC regulations, and project specifications.
- Monitor workmanship and quality to ensure installations meet project requirements.
- Identify and resolve field issues while communicating progress, risks, and solutions to the project team.
- Complete daily reports, production tracking, and other required site documentation.
- Promote a positive team culture through mentorship, leadership, and a strong commitment to safety.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of civil construction experience with significant underground utility experience.
- Previous experience as a Foreman or Lead Hand leading construction crews.
- Strong knowledge of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain installation.
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to maintain productivity while delivering high-quality work safely.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Confined Space Entry, or other related certifications are considered strong assets.
