Job description

Recognizing the importance of individualized flexibility, our ways of working allow employees to balance personal and work commitments while ensuring we continue to create a strong culture of collaboration and teamwork by engaging face‑to‑face in our offices 3 days a week. Our head office and BlueSky Hub in downtown Toronto are purposely designed with collaboration in mind, providing space where teams can come together to strategize, brainstorm and connect on key projects.

This is what you will do:

This role sits within the US Alexion HCP Engagement Operations team, a cross‑functional group responsible for supporting and driving HCP engagements—including speaker programs, consulting, advisory boards, and commercial sponsorships—for US commercial stakeholders. The Associate Director, HCP Engagement Operations Analytics & Strategy will support all disease areas within the Rare Disease Unit and report to the Director of HCP Engagement Operations. The role collaborates closely with Disease Area HCP Engagement Operations Leads, the Commercial Sponsorship Manager, Commercial Leadership, Compliance & Analytics colleagues.

You will enable high‑quality analytics, evidence‑based decision‑making, dashboard development, and operational support. You will work across functions to address national and regional HCP engagement questions, identify compliance risk trends, and support sales and marketing in evaluating engagement performance against annual needs assessments. Your analysis, insights and recommendations will directly shape how commercial teams engage with HCPs and how leadership navigates key business decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, lead, and execute qualitative and quantitative analyses to address business questions (e.g., speaker program attendee analysis, risk trend identification, and risk mitigation strategy).
  • Translate data observations into insights and recommendations.
  • Understand business needs and lead cross‑functional collaborators across Business Operations Commercial Excellence (BOCE) and external vendors, serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensure HCP Engagement Operations and its outsourced partners maintain strong internal controls to support audit readiness.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Smartsheets to support compliant processes and controls aligned to policy.
  • Respond to ad hoc insight requests, providing accurate, succinct, and well‑contextualized data narratives for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support strategy and execution of data quality and data strategy initiatives.
  • Support CRM strategy and operational needs for HCP Engagement Operations.
  • Serve as SME for cross‑system and cross‑vendor data integration initiatives.
  • Participate in team huddles to identify process gaps and support continuous improvement.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop tools, dashboards, reporting, and process enhancements.
  • Manage competing priorities through clear communication, expectation setting, and time allocation.
  • Execute all responsibilities in a compliant manner and assist in developing and updating procedures and policies.
  • Build strong partnerships with Marketing, Sales, Compliance, and other cross‑functional teams.
  • Ensure relevant team members are aligned and engaged at key project stages.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Data Science, Business, or Marketing.
  • At least 5 years of experience in advanced analytics and reporting, ideally within pharma/biotech.
  • Advanced proficiency in Smartsheet and Excel.
  • Strong technical aptitude and comfort working across multiple systems.
  • Expertise in data manipulation, harmonization, and integration for analytics.
  • Experience in user‑centric dashboard design and development.
  • Experience creating mockups, markups, and proof‑of‑concept models.
  • Ability to translate business needs to technical requirements and drive outcomes.
  • Strong ability to identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong requirements‑gathering and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
  • Ability to independently lead projects and engage leadership.
  • Ability to derive insights from complex and disparate data sources.
  • Ability to travel <10%.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work in an office environment with typical requirements (computer use, communication, problem solving, collaboration).

We would prefer you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science or an advanced degree (MBA/PhD) in Marketing, Market Research, or Statistics.
  • Understanding of compliance guidelines and US PhRMA code for speaker programs.
  • Project Management certification.
  • Methodical approach to problem‑solving.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and continuously pursue solutions that add value.
  • Self‑directed and self‑motivated work style.
  • Experience with speaker program data analytics.
  • Experience in advanced healthcare analytics (pharma/biotech, consulting, research).
  • Experience with specialty, orphan, or rare disease therapies.
  • Strong storytelling capabilities.
  • Expertise with SQL, Qlik, Tableau.
  • Experience with external datasets such as claims, EMR, and third‑party practitioner data.
  • Experience with CRM, alignment, and analytical applications.
  • Statistical and regression analysis skills.
