Job Title: Production Assembler – Wood Products

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling large custom wood products used as display fixtures in retail environments. You will work from detailed drawings to gather parts, set up your work area, and assemble products using a variety of hand and power tools. Depending on the size of the item, you will either work independently or as part of a team. The work involves repetitive builds of similar products, followed by transferring completed items to the finishing department. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and can thrive in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings and production plans for each project.
  • Gather all required parts, materials, and hardware for each build and organize them at the workstation.
  • Assemble large and small wood products using hand tools, power tools, clamps, glue, and fasteners.
  • Work independently on smaller items and collaborate in a team for larger assemblies.
  • Perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining consistent quality and attention to detail.
  • Use tools such as screw guns, staple guns, clamps, and other power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all components are aligned, secured, and finished according to specifications and drawings.
  • Move completed assemblies to the finishing department for further processing.
  • Support cleaning and basic finishing tasks as needed to prepare products for final stages.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including managing sawdust and debris.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Lift and handle materials and finished products weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and resolve assembly issues.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and support continuous improvement in production processes.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years of production experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, ideally involving repetitive tasks.
  • Experience operating table saws.
  • Proficiency using basic hand tools and power tools, including screw guns, staple guns, clamps, and glue applicators.
  • Experience assembling products, such as cabinetry, wood structures, or similar items.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly during the shift.
  • Comfort working with wood products and understanding basic woodworking or wood assembly practices.
  • Ability to read and follow drawings or basic blueprints for assembly work.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to visualize the final product and ensure it matches specifications.
  • Reliability and strong attendance, with a commitment to showing up consistently and on time.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and processes and adapt to changes in production requirements.
  • Team player attitude with the ability to collaborate and also work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice to Have Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Direct cabinetry building or assembly experience, particularly with kitchen cabinets or similar wood products.
  • Previous woodworking experience, either in a professional setting or through projects such as home renovations or building fences.
  • Experience in cleaning and finishing work related to wood products.
  • Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate how the finished product should look and identify issues early.
  • Interest in growing into a lead hand role or learning machine operation as part of career progression.
  • Comfort working in a fast-growing, medium-sized manufacturing environment with multiple departments such as prep, paint, assembly, quality control, and shipping.

Why Work Here?

You will join a fast-growing organization that offers long-term stability, internal mobility, and clear opportunities for advancement. The company has secured ongoing projects with major retail brands and continues to expand, including plans to add additional shifts and new roles. Team members benefit from a supportive environment with minimal micromanagement, the ability to work independently, and fast succession opportunities, including movement into lead hand positions or machine operation roles. The workplace is transit-accessible, offers weekday-only schedules, and provides the potential to move to a sister company as promotions arise. Employees also enjoy team-building activities such as team barbecues and access to a comprehensive benefits package.

Work Environment

The role is based in a fast-growing, medium-sized wood manufacturing facility focused on custom-built cabinet and display components. The production floor includes multiple departments such as prep, paint, assembly, quality control, and shipping, and the company has recently expanded into additional bays due to growth. The environment can be dusty at times, with sawdust on the ground, and can be loud due to machines and power saws running. The culture emphasizes a great team atmosphere and collaboration across departments.

The standard shift runs Monday to Friday from 6:00 . to 2:30 ., with overtime opportunities starting as early as 5:00 . Work takes place only on weekdays, providing predictable scheduling. The dress code requires long pants and long-sleeve shirts, with no shorts allowed. Safety footwear is required, and ear plugs, safety glasses, and safety vests are provided on-site. The environment is suited for individuals comfortable working in a hands-on, production-focused setting with active use of tools and equipment.
