Job description

Les tâches

  • Plan, organize and control various activities relating to loading and unloading of freight.
  • Plan daily manpower needs to ensure customers’ freight is delivered on time and damage free.
  • Communicate with dispatch and with dock workers to coordinate the movement of trailers and freight.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings/briefings to communicate values, strategies and company objectives.
  • Prioritize transfer freight and next-day delivery.
  • Ensure the timely and efficient movement of freight on a daily basis.
  • Supervise, coach, train and develop Dock Foremen and dockworkers.
  • Prepare and issue shift reports to all relevant personnel.
  • Deal with employee-related issues such as reviews and discipline.
  • Enforce Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Do any other responsibilities required for the position.

Exigences du poste

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the transportation industry in an operation’s role.
  • Operational Certifications (Forklift , TDG and WHMIS).
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of industry.
  • Knowledge of OS&D.
  • Computer literate and comfortable with Word or Excel.
  • Knowledge of AS400 an asset
  • Knowledge of dispatch operations an asset.
