Complex SharePoint 2016 Migration to SharePoint Online

Project Scope

The Collaboration and Content Services (CCS) team requires an IT Technical Business Analyst to support SharePoint content and migration services. The role includes gathering business requirements designing information architecture and managing complex migration initiatives as the Government of Alberta transitions from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online.

The successful resource will work with SharePoint and Power Platform subject matter experts to design develop and maintain custom business applications using Power Apps and Power Automate . This includes upgrading legacy solutions that rely on InfoPath forms Nintex workflows and SharePoint Designer to modern Microsoft 365-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Provide IMT support coordination and engagement across all CCS-supported systems.

Analyze and coordinate IMT changes related to program or departmental restructuring (including AD and file system security impacts).

Lead stakeholder consultations and facilitate meetings.

Gather and document business functional and technical requirements.

Plan schedule and lead project and status meetings.

Prepare project documentation and planning materials.

Escalate unresolved issues and risks with recommendations.

Ensure work delivery aligns with scope standards and IMT processes.

Provide regular status updates and maintain documentation in SharePoint.

Utilize project management methodologies and governance tools.

Prepare technical recommendations and provide guidance to teams and management.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on pilots and limited production rollouts.

Perform quality checks on production releases.

Communicate operational policies and guidelines to clients.

Assess the impact of new service or technology requests and recommend solutions.

Qualification Requirements Must Have

Education : Meets or exceeds BA-level requirement

5 years experience in :

Business analysis and requirements translation

Leading technical teams as a project coordinator

Defining scopes and objectives with stakeholders

Requirements gathering from diverse groups

Complex SharePoint projects using managed metadata workflows custom solutions

SharePoint development integration and support

Creating integrated technical / system design specifications

Nice to Have

4 years analyzing process maps data flows and system documentation

3 years designing developing and implementing complex IT solutions

4 years creating project documentation across various initiatives

3 years with ITSM tools support processes and service management

4 years working in environments with shifting priorities or requirements
