Purpose:

The candidate will lead small to medium projects for the Instrumentation & Control discipline and interface well with the customer and coordinate with the rest of the project team.

• Take responsibility for the Control engineering and design team assigned and their design output quality cost and schedule requirements for specific projects.

• Support the Technical Integrity role for the Instrument & Control (I&C) discipline.

• Ensure all engineering and design work performed adjusts to quality cost and schedule requirements.

• Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.

• Ensure all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the client or to agreed industry standards.

Self-motivated individuals with a desire to solve complex engineering problems show effective team leadership and communication skills will be ideally suitable for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise and leadership in control system engineering design implementation programming configuration commissioning testing and troubleshooting in support of Control Systems for O&G operations (upstream midstream or downstream; onshore and offshore) Chemical Facilities Manufacturing Facilities etc. along with all associated control system devices computers communications networks endpoint devices and instrumentation. (ICS e.g.: Distributed Control Systems DCS Programmable Logic Controller systems PLC and SCADA).
• Provide technical expertise in consultation evaluation recommendation and development or review of specifications work scopes bid proposals test procedures alarm response procedures commissioning plans and vendor reports.
• Provide hands on control system Support including digital devices or systems with communications interface to control systems (e.g. inverters drives and protection relays for electrical power systems).
• Manage/Lead projects and perform multiple responsibilities of controls engineering support in parallel and oversee vendor/contractor support when needed.
• Provide support and leadership to meet ICS Cyber Security requirements as well as other regulatory compliance requirements projects initiatives and activities relative to industrial controls and control systems.
• Perform evaluation of control system and instrumentation specifications for projects and new plant construction.
• Control Systems may include (but not limited to the following vendors): Honeywell Schneider Emerson GE ABB Allen-Bradley Siemens Modicon Wonderware.

What You Will Bring

Education Qualifications Accreditation Training:

Required:

• Post-Secondary Education in a field related to Instrumentation & Control.
• Minimum Fifteen (15) years of direct Instrumentation & Control design and engineering experience.

Preferred:

• Experience with control loop tuning.
• Strong computer skills foundation as relates to operating systems controls system software servers networks and communications software.

• Functional SafetyCertification

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia the salary range is $116000 - $168000.

Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidates qualifications relevant years of experience geographic location internal pay equity and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
