PLANT CONTROLLER

The Plant Controller serves as the financial leader for the Sacopan manufacturing facility and is a key member of the plant leadership team. This role provides financial stewardship, strategic business partnership, operational support, and leadership for accounting and finance processes. The position is responsible for financial planning and analysis, month-end close, internal controls, compliance, capital management, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that support plant performance and long-term business growth.

The Plant Controller translates operational performance into actionable financial insights, supports strategic decision-making, ensures compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements, and plays a critical role in ERP modernization and SAP deployment efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership

  • Promote and support a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Participate as an active member of the plant leadership team in advancing safety culture and operational excellence.

Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis

  • Lead monthly close activities and ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and long-range planning models.
  • Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior-year results.
  • Analyze plant performance including inventory, labor, conversion costs, overhead absorption, productivity, and cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators that connect operational performance to financial outcomes.
  • Present financial results and business insights to plant leadership and executive management.

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Partner with plant leadership to establish operational and financial objectives aligned with company strategy.
  • Support decision‑making through financial modeling, business case development, and profitability analysis.
  • Lead scenario planning, risk assessments, and contingency planning initiatives.
  • Provide actionable recommendations that improve business performance and shareholder value.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain integrity of financial records and accounting processes.
  • Produce ad hoc financial analyses and reports as required.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Lead annual control assessments, audits, and remediation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ethics, and financial discipline across the organization.

ERP & Process Improvement Leadership

  • Lead and support SAP implementation, stabilization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive optimization and standardization of financial and operational processes.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to improve system capabilities, reporting, and data quality.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Capital & Investment Management

  • Monitor capital expenditures and track project spending.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities using financial analysis tools including ROI, NPV, and payback methodologies.
  • Support prioritization of projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, and profitability.
  • Verify delivery of expected financial benefits from capital investments.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for finance and administrative personnel.
  • Educate plant leaders on financial principles and business performance metrics.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or manufacturing operations finance.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
  • Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational planning processes.
  • SAP experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, manufacturing costing, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query; VBA knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, OneStream, and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decision‑making and drive business results.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Bilingual French and English required; English is utilized regularly for collaboration with corporate stakeholders and business partners.
  • Ability to build consensus and work effectively across all levels of the organization.
