  • Developing tools, training and collaborative approaches related to domestic violence with the Akwesasne and Kahnawà:ke communities.

The incumbent will collaborate with Indigenous partners organizations, organizations specializing in domestic violence prevention, health and social services, communities organizations, psychosocial professionals, and legal stakeholders. They will serve as a liaison to support culturally safe care pathways that respect communities' values and traditional practices, working closely with the Cultural Safety Advisor (Planning, Programming and Research Officer).

SPECIFIC DESCRIPTIONClinical Support And Expertise

  • Reviews and updates service offers, clinical tools and policies
  • Contributes to the development of a domestic violence prevention service pathway for Indigenous communities, in collaboration with relevant partners
  • Helps improve the quality, accessibility and continuity of domestic violence services for Indigenous clients
  • Develops or adapts culturally responsive clinical tools in collaboration with specialized partners
  • Coordinates the development of a Web page and resource toolkit for the communities

Project Coordination – Skén:nen ne Akwékon Knowledge transfer and skills development

REQUIREMENTS

  • General Coordination
  • Plans, implements, and monitors all phases of the project in accordance with established objectives and timelines.
  • Supports the creation, facilitation and ongoing coordination of the collaborative committee bringing together key stakeholders from Kahnawà:ke, Akwesasne, specialized partner organizations, and Santé Québec Montérégie-Ouest.
  • Promotes alignment and ongoing communication among local and regional partners
  • Documents project activities, performance indicators, outcomes, partner engagement, and results.
  • Contributes to the development of reports required by the Secrétariat à la condition féminine
  • Monitors progress toward planned targets, including meetings, awareness activities, training sessions, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Relationships with Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) Communities
  • Works closely with Indigenous health organizations and services to ensure initiatives are culturally safe and aligned with community priorities.
  • Integrates community values, perspectives, cultural practices, and traditional knowledge into project activities and tools, including cultural workshops.
  • Plans and implements culturally adapted awareness activities, including workshops, information sessions, media campaigns and web content
  • Works with communications teams and local media to support appropriate and culturally adapted message.
  • Identifies continuing education and skills development needs
  • Co-develops and coordinates cross-sector training for psychosocial workers, Indigenous services and specialized partners
  • Engages stakeholders in knowledge transfer and capacity-building activities.
  • Ensures practices remain aligned with clinical approaches to violence prevention
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate university discipline, such as Social Work, Psychoeducation, Criminology or Psychology
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle are required, as frequent travel to Kahnawà:ke, Akwesasne, and the Haut-Saint-Laurent Regional County Municipality (RCM) is expected.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, depending on communities meeting requirements.

Experience

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in the health and social services network or in a relevant field
  • Two (2) years of project management experience
  • Experience in domestic violence prevention and intervention, psychosocial practice, or project coordination
  • Knowledge of Québec government policies and strategic directions related to domestic violence prevention, including the Integrated Government Strategy to Counter Sexual Violence, Domestic Violence and Rebuild Trust (2022–2027)
  • Experience in homicide risk assessment, including specialized training provided by the Centre de recherche appliquée en intervention psychosociale (CRAIP)
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or in the field of cultural safety is an asset.
  • Excellent command of English and French. Proficiency in French is required to communicate with clients.
  • Knowledge of Kanien’kéha (Mohawk) is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and collaborative digital tools
