DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Scientist I Formulation where youll make meaningful contributions to products that help make the world healthier cleaner and this role youll perform formulation and manufacturing activities in a GMP/ISO-regulated environment working with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies. Youll execute manufacturing protocols troubleshoot processes maintain detailed documentation and collaborate across functions to ensure high-quality output. This position offers opportunities to drive continuous improvement while working in a team-oriented setting focused on safety quality and operational excellence.
Summary:
Performs formulation scale up and other manufacturing related assignments and participates inmaintaining the equipment in the Pharmaceutics and Process Technology (PPT) area while at the sametime ensuring that compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices and Environmental Health &Safety (EH&S) guidelines are met. Provide support to the team as required within the scope of their function.
Essential Functions:
- Perform manufacturing activities including set-up run and cleaning of equipment and rooms
- Perform formulation scale up and other manufacturing (Developmental & Good ManufacturingPractices) related assignments and documents them appropriately.
- Participate in the maintenance of manufacturing and laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Participate in inter departmental co-ordination for documentation and equipment related tasks.
- Maintain a safe working environment and reports potential hazards.
The candidate must be available to work a biweekly rotating shift schedule of 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday including:
- Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.
- Afternoon Shift: 3:20 p.m. 11:20 p.m.
- Night Shift: 11:10 p.m. 7:00 a.m.
The candidate must also be willing to work extended hours as required to support operational needs. Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes and provide occasional weekend coverage is essential to meet evolving project and business requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum Bachelor of Science (.) in Pharmaceutics Engineering or Chemistry.
Experience: Minimum 1 years of pharmaceutical formulation experience or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education training and relevant work experience may be considered.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of equipment formulations and processes.
- Able to perform job requirements whilewearing PPE (Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) Tyvek suit and double gloves).
- Ability to lift up to40 lbs.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines.
- Excellent written andoral communication skills.
- Able to execute own work which is typically planned by others.
- Communicatesand co-operates with others to meet project and team objectives.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency withMicrosoft Office programs.
- Proficiency with the English Language.

Physical Requirements:
- Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move aboutmanufacturing/office locations;
- Ability to stand walk stoop kneel crouch periodically for prolonged periodsof time;
- Ability to work flexible hours including possible shift work.
- Manipulation (lift carry move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm hand and fingerdexterity;
- Visual acuity to operate equipment and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sitreach with hands and arms talk and hear for prolonged periods of time.
- Usually in a comfortableenvironment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such thingsas dust loud noise bright lights fumes or odour.
- Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses safety shoes lab coat gloves hair net beard cover safetyapron respirator.
Compensation
The estimated annualized pay range for this position in Ontario is $46600.00$69850.00.
