YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Superintendent, Underground Mine, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Manage monthly compliance to plan and support day-to-day operations for the UG Mine, led by example and build a safe and strong employee culture;

Confer with the engineering team, maintenance, and production personnel to plan and direct activities that have an impact on departmental productivity;

Provide input for short and long range mine planning development;

Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of mine operations employees in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner, either personally or through subordinates. Monitor costs, productivity, safety, and employee motivation;

Interact with the mine management team to establish production and quality standards by using knowledge of mining technology (methods, procedures, standards, and machine & equipment capabilities);

Coordinate production activities along with procurement, maintenance, production planning, safety, and quality control activities to obtain optimal use of employee and equipment resources;

Review and analyse production to determine the sources of variance between production specifications and goals;

Collaborate and communicate effectively with all appropriate parties, develop and implement methods and procedures to eliminate operational problems and improve efficiency as well as ore quality;

Communicate and coordinate with the engineering team to modify equipment and procedures to improve productivity;

Lead by example and manage the performance and development of direct reports;

Ensure compliance with the Agnico Eagle Mining Policies and Procedures;

Provide specific training and development opportunities for immediate employees;

Coach and mentor subordinates regarding employee relations, safety, environmental, productivity and cost issues;

Assist in the development and preparation of capital and operating budgets;

Routinely review expenditures to prevent excess costs or inaccurate charges;

Interface with vendors and suppliers to ensure the efficient use of supplies and tools;

Study and review data, charts, reports, and records;

Oversee investigations involving safety incidents, accidents and near misses;

Address inappropriate behaviour as required;

Ensure that reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner;

Recommend procedures and methods to improve employee safety.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or related discipline is considered an asset, with 10 years of experience in directing Underground mining operations;

Excellent oral and written communication;

Leadership as well as interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills;

Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude. Able to develop and foster a team environment;

Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures, and regulations;

Experience working in a multicultural environment;

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;

Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days of transportation and rest and/or Schedule: 10 days of work, followed by 10 days of transportation and rest;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
