Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics and Insights, you will take a lead role in the development, deployment, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions that support evidence-based decision-making across the Department. Working closely with program areas, stakeholders, technical staff, and senior analysts, you will develop reporting products that transform complex data into accessible insights and meaningful information.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing dashboard development throughout the full lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to testing, deployment, training, and ongoing support. You will work directly with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, develop analytical solutions, and present findings to audiences including executive leadership.

You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of team governance practices, documentation standards, code management processes, and reporting procedures that support the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the Department's analytics services.

Primary Accountabilities

Your primary responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and enhancing Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions that support evidence-based decision-making across the Department. Working collaboratively with program areas, stakeholders, technical staff, and senior analysts, you will help transform complex data into meaningful insights and accessible reporting products. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes, governance practices, documentation standards, and analytical services that support the Department’s reporting and decision-making needs.

You will:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support departmental reporting, performance measurements, and operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with program areas, stakeholders, technical staff, and senior analysts to gather business requirements and translate them into effective reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Lead testing, validation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance activities for Power BI reporting solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, usability, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present dashboard solutions, reporting findings, trends, and data insights to management, executive leadership, and other audiences.
  • Work with analysts and technical staff to review, troubleshoot, and improve SQL, Power BI, and related reporting processes, identifying opportunities to enhance the efficiency and performance of reporting products and data workflows.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, user guides, and supporting resources related to data sources, business rules, methodologies, reporting processes, and analytical products to support quality assurance, knowledge sharing, and long-term sustainability.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of GitLab repositories, version control practices, code review processes, and related standards to promote collaboration, quality assurance, and effective management of analytical products.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of team governance practices, documentation standards, operational procedures, and knowledge-management processes that support the delivery and sustainability of analytics and reporting services.

Qualifications and Experience

You have completed a bachelor's degree (such as computer science, data analytics, mathematics, statistics, economics, business analytics, or a related field). one or more years of cumulative experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or a related field would be an asset. Relevant experience gained through co-operative education placements, internships, casual employment, research positions, or academic projects will be considered. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

You must have demonstrated experience with:
• Power BI dashboard development, data visualization, and reporting.

• Working with SQL and relational databases

• Gathering, interpreting, and responding to business and reporting requirements from multiple stakeholders.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver analytical and reporting solutions.
• Creating technical documentation, user guides, training materials, or related supporting resources.
• Communicating analytical findings and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Preparing and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences, including management and senior leadership.

You demonstrate:
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• The ability to effectively communicate and present information to a variety of audiences, including management and executive leadership.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and diverse workplace.

The following would be considered assets:
• Experience with Python or other analytical programming languages.
• Experience using Git, GitLab, or other version control systems.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized testing, presentations, interviews, and reference checks.

  • A related diploma and two years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or a related field.

  • Other combinations of training, education, and experience that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.

Working Conditions

Your time will be spent in a comfortable office setting. Your normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

Pay Grade: PR 04 - PR 07

Salary Range: $1,946.91 - $2,698.22 Bi-Weekly
