Job description

Maritime Electric Company, Limited is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Human Resources & Training Administrator.

The Human Resources (HR) & Training Administrator provides administrative support to the Human Resources department, with a primary focus on maintaining accurate HR records, preparing and inputting HR reports, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the Company’s training database. This position supports the effective coordination of HR programs, employee training records, reporting requirements, and general HR administrative processes.

The duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Inputting, maintaining, and updating HR reports, records, spreadsheets, and related documentation to support accurate and timely reporting;
  • Maintaining the Company’s training database, ensuring employee training records are accurate, current, and complete;
  • Tracking training requirements, expiries, completions, and renewals, and following up with employees, supervisors, and managers as required;
  • Supporting the coordination of employee training activities, including scheduling, registration, attendance tracking, materials, and related communications;
  • Assisting with HR administrative processes, including employee file maintenance, onboarding documentation, benefit-related administration, and general departmental correspondence;
  • Preparing routine HR and training reports for senior leadership and other internal stakeholders;
  • Ensuring all information is handled confidentially and in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and legislative requirements; and
  • Providing general administrative support to the Human Resources department and assisting with special projects, employee communications, and department initiatives as required.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of recent administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources, training coordination, records management, or a related business support function; post-secondary education in the related discipline is considered an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record keeping, reporting, and database maintenance;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and professional support to employees, supervisors, and managers;
  • Proficiency with required software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel for spreadsheets, reporting, data entry, tracking, filtering, and maintaining accurate records;
  • Working knowledge of HR information systems, training databases, learning management systems, and other electronic records management tools used to maintain employee and training information;
  • Ability to use Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat or similar tools to prepare documents, coordinate communications, maintain files, and support HR and training processes;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Self-motivated team player with strong problem-solving skills and a customer service approach to supporting HR clients; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling employee and departmental information.

This position offers competitive comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The salary range for this position is between $70,000 - $83,000 per annum. Qualified individuals may submit confidentially a complete resume to Human Resources by email to by August 10, 2026.
