The Role Are you passionate about social media, storytelling, photography, video and creating engaging content? We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic Sport Communications & Content Placement Officer to join our Sport & Active Wellness team. Reporting to the Head of Engagement and working closely with the Sport Engagement Officer, you’ll help bring the Directorate to life through creative communications and content. Capturing major sporting events and producing engaging social media content, to designing promotional campaigns and telling inspiring student stories, no two days will be the same. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a busy communications and marketing team, building a professional portfolio while supporting our mission to help every member of the Oxford Brookes community move, succeed and belong. This role is primarily intended as an undergraduate placement opportunity. However, due to the timing of recruitment for this initial year, applications are also welcomed from recent graduates and other candidates who can commit to the fixed-term contract. About the Team Sport & Active Wellness (SAW) is a newly formed Directorate responsible for delivering an outstanding and inclusive sporting experience for students, staff and the wider community. We bring together performance, participation, wellbeing and facility services to support all levels of activity. You will join a creative, fast-paced and supportive team that thrives on enterprising creativity and a shared “Generosity of Spirit” to enhance the student experience. What will I be doing? ● Content Creation: Produce engaging content across social media, the website, app, digital screens and printed materials. ● Creative Design: Design posters, graphics and other promotional materials that support campaigns, programmes and events. ● Photography & Videography: Capture and edit photo and video content across sporting events, fitness activities and student experiences. ● Campaign Support: Help plan and deliver communications and marketing campaigns promoting memberships, programmes, events and active wellness initiatives. ● Event Coverage: Attend key events including Welcome Week, Sports Fair, Varsity, Sports Awards and Open Days, creating live and post-event content. ● Student Storytelling: Work with sports clubs, students and colleagues to create authentic stories celebrating the impact of sport and active wellness. ● Digital Communications: Help maintain content across the website, app and social media channels while monitoring engagement and identifying opportunities for improvement. What skills do I need? ● Currently undertaking a degree with a required placement year or recently graduated (within the last 2 years). ● Experience creating content for social media, websites or other digital platforms. ● A creative eye with an interest in photography, videography, design or digital content creation. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ● Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. ● Experience working collaboratively as part of a team. ● A genuine interest in sport, physical activity, active wellness and student engagement.
