Position Summary

The University of Regina is seeking a passionate and empathetic individual to take on the role of term Coordinator, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response. As the driving force behind our initiatives, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a safer and more supportive environment for our community.

Reporting to the Manger, University Support Services, the role of the Coordinator, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response is to provide leadership to the University’s education, prevention and response strategies in support of the University’s Sexual Violence/Misconduct Policy (and procedures).

• Serve as the go-to contact for individuals affected by sexual violence/misconduct, providing essential counseling, trauma-informed support, and guidance through available resources.
• Collaborate with diverse university units and stakeholders to implement powerful education and prevention strategies in line with our Sexual Violence/Misconduct Policy.
• Craft and share a unified message about our expectations, support options, and compassionate responses to reports or disclosures of sexual violence.
• Lead the charge in developing and enhancing programs and initiatives aimed at preventing sexual violence within our campus.

• Graduate degree (Master’s) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates with a relevant bachelor’s degree and equivalent education and experience will also be considered.
• 5+ years of experience providing supports to survivors of sexual assault; and
• Minimum of 5 years related experience in young adult health or education sectors with specific experience in preventing and/or responding to sexual violence through the development and delivery of education programs, teaching and counselling.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

• Significant experience coordinating, developing, delivering and facilitating large-scale sexual violence and education programming preferred.
• Experience working with/in social justice organizations and/or sexual assault centres is an asset.
• Capable of establishing personal and professional networks and contacts both internally and externally, including with community-based resources available to survivors of sexualized violence.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing support using trauma-informed, survivor centred strategies.
• Strong anti-oppressive, anti-colonial feminist analysis of issues related to gender-based and sexualized violence.
• Demonstrated capacity to exercise judgement and sensitivity working with complex, confidential and sensitive issues.
• An unqualified commitment to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
• Understanding of the principles of adult learning and the capacity to prepare and deliver training and educational material effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to provide education to an adult audience.
• Knowledge and understanding of the culture of post-secondary educational institutions.
• Thorough knowledge of the academic environment, university-level academic demands, politics, policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with students, faculty, staff and community members with diverse life, working and academic experiences.
• Strong team skills complemented by the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, including strong report preparation, presentation, group facilitation and public speaking skills; ensures communication is appropriate for the audience.
• Must have a client-service orientation with a proven ability to receive, retain and clearly transmit information related to disclosures of sexual violence.
• Ability to work well under pressure with excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to manage work tasks effectively and the flexibility to respond to critical and emergent situations.
• Advanced computer skills, including creative presentation design, word processing and data management.
