Job description

Apply for Associate Counsel at Mahogany Law Group LLP in Abbotsford, BC, CA. This Full time on site position offers great opportunities for career growth. Mahogany Law Group LLP | Abbotsford, BC | Full-time | Hybrid

About Us

Mahogany Law Group LLP is a boutique family law and estates firm located in Abbotsford, BC. We serve clients across the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland in the full range of family law matters, from negotiated resolutions to trial. We are a collegial, tech-forward firm that invests in its people and believes serious legal work and a supportive workplace go hand in hand.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Associate Counsel with 3+ years of practice experience to join our growing family law team. This is a primarily litigation-based role: the successful candidate will take carriage of active files with the support of experienced partners and staff, and can expect regular court appearances and meaningful courtroom advocacy from the outset. Family law experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take carriage of family law files from intake through resolution, including parenting, support, property division, and agreement matters
  • Appear in BC Supreme Court and Provincial Court, including chambers applications, case conferences, and trials
  • Negotiate settlements and draft pleadings, affidavits, agreements, and orders with precision
  • Conduct legal research and provide clients with clear, strategic, and practical advice
  • Collaborate with lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants to manage deadlines and deliver excellent client service
  • Stay current on developments in BC family law

Qualifications

  • Called to the Bar in British Columbia and a member in good standing of the Law Society of BC (required)
  • 2+ years of experience practicing law in British Columbia, with litigation experience; family law experience preferred
  • Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills
  • Client-centered approach with excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively
  • Proficiency with legal technology (LEAP experience an asset)

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Benefits include:

  • Extended health, dental, and vision care
  • Life insurance
  • Flexible schedule and hybrid work arrangement
  • Company events
  • On-site parking

Why Join Mahogany Law Group LLP?

A practice that matches your experience. You'll have ownership of your own files while also having the opportunity to collaborate on more complex or strategic matters with experienced lawyers. The balance is intentional; independence when it's appropriate, collaboration when it adds value.

Direct access to decision-makers. Questions don't get filtered through layers of management. Managing partners remain actively involved in the practice and are readily available to discuss strategy, provide guidance, or simply act as a sounding board.

Flexibility built around effective practice. We offer a hybrid work model with a comfortable office environment that supports collaboration when being together makes a difference, while recognizing the value of focused work from home.

A genuinely collaborative culture. We work together on challenging files, share ideas freely, and celebrate one another's successes. Our lawyers are approachable, and asking for input is viewed as part of delivering the best outcome for clients, not as a sign of inexperience.

Mahogany Law Group LLP is an equal opportunity employer.

We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Pay: $96,000.00-$200,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Dental care
  • Flexible schedule
  • On-site parking
  • Paid time off
  • Vision care
  • Work from home

Experience: Family law: 3 years (preferred)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Abbotsford, BC
