Operations Officer - 58384

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Operations Officer II to join a collaborative, high-performing back-office operations team within a leading financial institution.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing daily back-office transaction volumes, exception processing, and detailed account investigations while consistently meeting strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will handle complex scenarios such as NSF items, court orders, deceased accounts, and government information requests, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and risk mitigation in every task.

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid: 4 days onsite, 1 day WFH)
Contract Duration: 6 months (Possibility of extension and permanent conversion based on performance and business needs)
Hours/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (No rotational shifts / No overtime required)
Compensation: Up to $25.34/hr
Position Type: Full-Time Contract (100% Back-Office / Internal Support)

Responsibilities
Transaction & Exception Management: Manage daily back-office transaction processing, focusing on exception handling for NSF items, closed/unfound accounts, deceased accounts, and court-ordered account restrictions.
Account Investigations: Perform thorough account reviews and investigations to verify transaction details, evaluate account statuses, and make accurate determinations on whether payments should be processed or returned.
SLA & Productivity Compliance: Consistently achieve a minimum 90% daily productivity benchmark while strictly adhering to internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Risk & Quality Assurance: Ensure all due diligence is conducted in full compliance with bank codes of conduct, operating policies, regulatory requirements, and audit guidelines. Promptly identify and escalate potential operational risks.
Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in daily huddles (15–30 mins), contribute to team problem-solving, and suggest process or workflow enhancements to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications
Must-Have Skills:
2 to 4 years of hands-on experience within banking, financial services, or back-office operations.
Demonstrated experience handling high-volume financial transactions and payment processing.
Proven track record of operating effectively under strict SLA and productivity targets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (with strong, practical experience in Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Post-secondary education in business, finance, or a related discipline.

Nice-to-Have:
Direct experience with NSF processing, account maintenance, court orders, or trade/cash processing products (e.g., loans, deposits, FX spots/forwards).
Experience with Microsoft Copilot or other enterprise AI productivity tools.
Experience navigating bank operational platforms (e.g., Global, WSS).
