Job Description
Under the direction of the Chair, performs cashiering function using computerized cash register. Responsible for maintaining a sanitary and well-stocked cafeteria environment.
TYPICAL DUTIES
• Operates a pre-programmed cash register, receives cash and provides correct change;
• Performs cash reconciliation and prepares float;
• Prepares bank deposit for courier pick-up from two cash registers plus the Classroom Restaurant register;
• Maintains liaison with Storeroom Steward regarding supply requirements;
• Processes interdepartmental catering charges by preparing slip charts and documenting charges;
• Clears and tidies tables in eating areas;
• Ensures that clean and sanitary conditions are maintained in all food service areas;
• Cleans tables, chairs, utensils, appliances, equipment, working and service area;
• Maintains supply of dishes, cutlery, napkins, condiments and soft drinks;
• Sets up for in-house functions;
• Delivers food and beverages for campus catering;
• Assists students in table service for special functions;
• Sets up tables and makes coffee;
• Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity. Qualifications Grade education and Food Safe (Basic) certificate. One year experience in a food service establishment including table service and cashiering functions. Must be able to relate well with students, staff and faculty.
