Position: Financial Analyst – Intermediate
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Primarily Remote; occasional onsite meetings up to 4 times/year)
Duration: Approximately 6 months (Extension up to 6 months)
Start: August 2026 (Estimated)
Hours: 36.25 hours/week (Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM Alberta Time)
The Government of Alberta is seeking an Intermediate Financial Analyst to support the Citizen Experience Evolution Branch in managing financial operations for modernization initiatives involving Land Titles, Motor Vehicles, and Registry Systems.
The successful candidate will support budgeting, forecasting, contract management, financial reporting, project auditing, and cost analysis while ensuring compliance with Government financial policies and accounting standards.
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements Relevant post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. 3+ years of advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis). 3+ years managing project budgets and forecasts. 3+ years validating vendor invoices and processing payments. 3+ years applying accounting principles and Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (or equivalent). 3+ years using SAP and Ariba. 3+ years working with accounting systems, financial controls, and budget management. 3+ years maintaining financial records with high accuracy. Preferred Skills Government procurement and contract management. Contract drafting and administration. Process documentation and process improvement. Financial reporting and variance analysis. Audit and compliance support. IT financial processes. Financial and risk assessment. Knowledge of: Trade Agreements Financial Administration Act FOIP Public Works Act Experience with Government of Alberta 1GX financial system.
