New Afton

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 105,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: 5x2 (Mon-Fri) or 4x3 (Mon-Thurs); Flexible Schedule options available

Position Reports To: Warehouse General Supervisor (Warehouse) and Procurement Lead (Procurement)

Position Overview: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Supply Chain Co-op student for an 8- or 12-month work term commencing in September 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement:

  • Assist with MRP/inventory purchasing and/or expediting;
  • Assist with collecting, entering, and reviewing vendor key performance indicator (KPI) data;
  • Provide support to draft Goods and Service agreements;
  • Scheduling and hosting quarterly and annual vendor performance review meetings;
  • Assist with tracking and filing WCB, Insurance and Anti-Bribery documentation;
  • Provide general support to the Procurement team.

Warehouse:

  • Responsible for shipping and receiving of various materials;
  • Storage, stocking, and expediting of inventory orders;
  • Stock maintenance, and filling orders for mining departments;
  • Assist and actively participate in Safety activities and meetings;
  • Assist with inventory optimization projects;
  • Vendor reviews for inventory;
  • Other basic warehouse related duties as needed.

Other responsibilities overlap between procurement and warehouse team.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates are currently enrolled in their 2nd year undergraduate program for Bachelor of Business, Supply Chain Management, or similar.
  • The candidate will have a basic understanding of supply chain management and purchasing processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and self-starter skills are required as the candidate will be supporting various departments (“client groups”) across the mine site.
  • Applicants must possess a valid BC Driver's License and have access to personal transportation.

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

  • Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $52,000 to $64,480. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
