ABOUT OCHAPOWACE NATION
Ochapowace Nation is a community of about 600 people located off the Trans-Canada #1 Highway in between Whitewood and Broadview, Saskatchewan. We take pride in our community, ensuring we maintain our cultural teachings, language and traditional way of life., which are of the upmost importance at Kakisiwew School. Kakisiwew School is pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 with approximately 260 students and 40 dedicated staff. We are an active community. We maintain and promote high standards in academics, sports, language and culture.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Ochapowace Nation is looking for four full-time Elementary/Secondary teachers to join our team for the 2026-2027 academic year. The incumbents will work closely with the principal to promote a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
· Will be responsible for providing an educational setting where students will be able to achieve their intellectual, psychological, physical and emotional growth.
· Can adapt and support student learning
· Can successfully infuse and highlight Indigenous values and ways of knowing into all areas of the curriculum
· Will work with the community to integrate knowledge and skills
· Can adapt to online learning if required and is adept at engaging learning strategies
· Report regularly on developing, cooperating and coordinating student activities
· Daily record keeping or daily plans
· Other duties may be assigned by the Principal and Director of Education
REQUIREMENTS
· Degree in Education and valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate
· Must be friendly, dependable and possess a professional demeanor
· Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures
· Excellent multi-tasking and decision-making skills
· Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
· Must be flexible and able to work well independently and with a team
· Knowledge about Ochapowace First Nation and First Nation culture and traditions
· Must obtain a Vulnerable Sector security clearance and current prohibited drug screen
Selection Process: Candidates will be selected for this position based on their skill, ability, experience and qualifications as identified in the resume. Preference will be given to Ochapowace Nation Members.
