As a global-leading health and well-being provider – encompassing physical, mental and financial health – TELUS Health is improving health outcomes for consumers, patients, healthcare professionals, employers and employees.

Join our team and what we’ll accomplish together

TELUS Health Retirement Consulting practice brings over 60 years of experience and innovative thought leadership to pension & savings, actuarial, compensation and overall financial well-being consulting and outsourcing. Our purpose is to improve financial outcomes for individuals while managing costs and risks for organizations by leveraging technology and data. We are also one of the largest pension plan administrators in Canada, serving over five million plan participants.

We are a diverse organization with unparalleled capabilities for our clients and their people. We actively welcome candidates from all backgrounds and are dedicated to removing barriers to employment.

Join our fantastic team of Defined Benefits (DB) Administration specialists in Retirement Consulting. We are proud to have experts located across the country who are passionate about assisting our clients in improving the financial well-being of their plan members. Our primary focus is administering DB pension plans, and we offer a wide range of service models to ensure that we meet the unique needs of each client. If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on plan members’ financial well-being, this is the perfect role for you!

We welcome candidates from across Western Canada. While we have offices in Calgary and Vancouver, we're fully equipped to support remote work. If you're near one of our locations, you'll have the option to work hybrid; wherever you're based, we're committed to supporting your success.

Here’s the impact that we’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

As part of a dedicated and professional team, you will be responsible for managing the DB administration activities for various clients and play a key role in managing client relationships. You'll bring valuable expertise in pension administration, client relationship management, and legislative knowledge to successfully support our DB Administration Team and the plan members we serve.

What you’ll do

Client Relationship management:

  • Build and maintain excellent relations with client contacts

  • Ensure the team provides top-quality services to clients

  • Provide relevant information to clients on administrative issues and legislative requirements

  • Coordinate DB Admin related services including web tools and call centre services

  • Understand the client's perspective and priorities, and collaborate to resolve administrative issues

  • Participate in governance initiatives including service review meetings and reporting

  • Facilitate communication between clients and our team

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing clients

  • Manage Service Agreements by ensuring regular reviews and timely preparation of fee adjustments and renewals

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Review work including benefit calculations, annual statements, and other relevant reports in accordance with pension plan rules and applicable legislation

  • Oversee implementation of process improvement initiatives, present solutions to internal stakeholders and analyze success metrics

  • Lead internal initiatives that enhance our service delivery

Project management:

  • Plan and manage deliverables across multiple client teams

  • Ensure appropriate resources are assigned to client responsibilities

  • Lead special projects as required

  • Collaborate with resources in other departments

Talent management and Coaching:

  • Function as a team leader, overseeing work of other team members

  • Conduct annual performance reviews and provide constructive feedback on a regular basis

  • Act as a mentor, supporting the growth and development of other team members

  • Collaborate on employee engagement initiatives

  • Assist with recruiting efforts

  • Conduct training sessions

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in DB Pension Administration

  • We value candidates with 10+ years of relevant experience OR equivalent demonstrated expertise gained through professional certification, specialized training, or progressive career development in pension administration

  • Post-secondary education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or other relevant field, relevant professional certifications (such as CEBS, PPAC, or equivalent)

  • Strong knowledge of provincial pension and tax legislation relevant to your region

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Customer-focused mindset with professional acumen and ability to build relationships

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with pension administration software

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Detail-oriented approach to work, with strong quality assurance practices

Valued Assets

  • CEBS or PPAC designation (we support professional development for candidates pursuing these credentials)

  • Bilingualism (English and French) – particularly valuable for serving Quebec-based clients; we support language training for interested employees

  • Experience with process improvement or change management initiatives

  • Background in mentoring or developing team members

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120, 000 CAD Annual

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.

We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, even if the posted salary range doesn't match your expectations. We're open to discussing competitive compensation packages tailored to your experience level and expertise.

TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:

  • Comprehensive total rewards package highlighting competitive salary and bonus structures, minimum 3 weeks of vacation, and flexible benefits plan to meet the needs of you and your family

  • Flexibility to work in-office, virtually or a combination of both
