Co-located within Operations, the Mobile Equipment Coordinator is the key internal liaison between production, facilities and supply chain, as well as the key external liaison with strategic suppliers, maintaining strong communication and working relationships throughout.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for mobile equipment suppliers, operations, facilities, and supply chain teams regarding mobile equipment needs and issues as they arise.
  • Accountable for associated budgets and financial forecasting across all mobile equipment demand within the shipyard, based on specific program schedules, work packages and milestones.
  • Estimate and track cost impacts relating to equipment usage, rentals and downtime to support program budgets and cost control efforts (EAC budget management).
  • Analyze equipment utilization trends to support capacity planning, rent versus buy decisions and long-range equipment needs.
  • Ensure all mobile equipment is inspected, certified and compliant with safety regulations in accordance with shipyard policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for equipment status, location, and readiness using appropriate logs, systems and vendor-managed applications.
  • In close collaboration with operations, identify equipment conflicts or shortages across programs and proactively adjust inventory levels to avoid disruption to production priorities.
  • Responsible for ensuring all preventative maintenance is carried out satisfactorily by the mobile equipment suppliers and that all equipment remains in a safe, reliable working condition.
  • Communicate daily equipment plans, constraints and updates to operations supervisors and shipyard leadership as needed.
  • Attend shipyard production meetings on a daily and weekly basis as needed.
  • May be required to approve invoices for payment or to support resolution of issues/discrepancies between invoice and order to facilitate payment.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of experience coordinating or supervising heavy equipment operations in a shipyard, industrial, construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience scheduling and managing equipment to support production or project work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain close-knit relationships with multiple stakeholders across a complex, fast paced business.
  • Working knowledge of mobile equipment such as cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts or similar industrial machinery.
  • Familiarity with equipment utilization tracking, forecasting demand, and supporting budget planning activities.
  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics or related field is desirable.
