Job description

Position Summary

Are you passionate about student success and community engagement? Join the Centre for Experiential & Service Learning (CESL) as a Volunteer & Experiential Learning Coordinator. This position is a key part of the CESL team. The incumbent will provide support for experiential learning opportunities and career readiness for students.

What You’ll Do?
  • Participate in campus-wide outreach to promote experiential learning opportunities.
  • Facilitate student meetings and schedule follow-up meetings to support students in their University journey including volunteering and …
  • Lead in the development and execution of student engagement efforts for volunteer and experiential learning opportunities
  • Support experiential learning programming by providing program advising, supporting program promotion and assisting with outreach initiatives
  • Complete resume reviews, mock interviews, badge reflections, and experiential learning consultations
  • Oversight and development of student workshops
  • Utilize available student engagement systems to monitor student participation in experiential learning
  • Coach students on completion of experiential badges and designations
  • Assist in the verification process for the Experiential Learning Record
  • Play a significant role in the planning and execution of large campus events

Position Requirements What You’ll Bring to this Position:
  • Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum two years of related experience (student services, advising, teaching, experiential learning, program management, and/or volunteerism)
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
  • Experience with program planning, evaluation, and data analysis
  • Knowledge of post-secondary environments and academic structures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of experiential learning typologies and how the University of Regina engages in these activities
  • Student Development Theory: knowledge, understanding and the ability to apply student development theory to CESL programming.
  • Extensive knowledge of career services and student engagement. Must be intimately familiar with the suite of academic success and skill building workshops offered on campus with the ability to deliver these workshops effectively.
  • Knowledge of other on-campus support units and how to make student referrals. Must be able to provide specific examples to students regarding how to be involved on campus, how to build leadership skills, and how to gain career-related experience while completing an academic program.
  • Knowledge of experiential and service learning opportunities on campus for students and community partners. Able to provide information, referrals or opportunities, knowledge of programming available to partners, and assist in establishing relationships between campus and community partners.
  • Technical Requirements include a working knowledge of Caspur, Banner, and Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of student engagement platforms, specifically UR Path.
