We are pleased to partner with The Shaw Group in recruiting an Assistant Corporate Controller to join their Corporate Finance team in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will support the Company’s consolidated financial reporting, treasury operations, budgeting processes, audits, and financial systems. Working closely with finance teams across the organization, the Assistant Corporate Controller will contribute to accurate reporting, process improvements, and strong financial controls while gaining broad exposure to a diverse and growing business.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities
  • Supporting consolidation, joint venture, and partnership accounting
  • Coordinating audit requirements and supporting external audit activities
  • Performing treasury functions, including bank reconciliations, cash flow monitoring, and banking administration
  • Supporting ERP systems, internal controls, and data integrity initiatives
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency
  • Assisting with special projects related to financial reporting, forecasting, and systems enhancements

As the ideal candidate, you will bring:
  • CPA designation
  • Three or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, consolidations, and full-cycle accounting
  • Experience with joint venture or partnership accounting considered an asset
  • Treasury and banking experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Syspro would be considered an asset
