The Opportunity:

Holland Bloorview is recruiting for neuropsychologists to join our inpatient Rehab and CCC (Day Program) team, and ambulatory care Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team/Concussion (BIRT/Concussion) team.

Our Day Program is an intensive outpatient rehabilitation service designed to enhance the quality of life for children and families with diverse healthcare needs. The program offers a structured, comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, focusing on improving physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. It is tailored for clients who are medically stable but continue to require ongoing care, allowing them to attend school (during the school year), participate in therapy, and return home each day to their families. The neuropsychologist working within this program may provide additional support in inpatient units, depending on operational need.

Our BIRT/Concussion team provides multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services to children and adolescents with moderate-to-severe acquired and traumatic brain injuries (e.g., encephalopathy, brain tumour, and motor-vehicle accidents) as well as clients with persistent concussion symptoms.

You will provide meaningful care for clients and families navigating complex challenges, while working in a setting that values your learning and professional development.

We are recruiting for 18-month contract positions and are open to considering a range of FTEs/availability. With a minimum schedule of 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week), contract benefits include access to our group health and dental plan and short-term disability/sickness coverage. At all FTE levels, benefits include enrollment in the HOOPP defined-benefit pension plan, and paid vacation or corresponding pay-in-lieu.

Specific duties include:

• The neuropsychologist offers a complete range of psychological services including assessment, consultation, education, training, and team support.
• Completes neuropsychological assessments and provides comprehensive individual and/or family feedback.
• Works collaboratively in providing supervision with psychometrists in completing assessments.
• Communicates information to the inter professional team, including the client’s home, school and community teams.
• Utilizes well-developed neuropsychological formulation, feedback, and report writing skills.
• Provides psychological interventions in both group and individual formats to clients and their caregivers.
• Provides intervention approaches that are appropriate to the pediatric rehabilitation setting.
• In partnership with clients, caregivers and the inter professional team, works collaboratively to provide client and family-centred care which is goal directed, evidence based and outcome oriented.
• Provides appropriate education and training sessions to inter-professional team.
• As a member of the Holland Bloorview Psychology Pre-doctoral Internship Program, supervises psychology practicum and internship students.
• Active participation in the BIRT program (and Day Program) and psychology-specific meetings, which may include involvement in committee work, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Psychology and Registration (or eligible for registration) with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts in Ontario (CPBAO) required, with declared competencies in Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents.
• Previous experience working with clients and families following pediatric acquired brain injury is preferred.
• Declared competence in Rehabilitation Psychology and/or Health Psychology would be an asset.
