Job description

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of the Customer Returns (RMA) department, the Senior Electronics Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, refurbishing, and functionally validating Haivision electronic boards and equipment.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in analyzing complex electronic failures and demonstrates a strong ability to quickly identify anomalies using electronic testing and measurement tools (e.g., internal test equipment, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.), as well as performing high-precision repairs with rigor and efficiency.


Responsibilities

Diagnosis and Repair

  • Analyze and diagnose failures in complex electronic circuits and high-tech equipment
  • Accurately identify root causes of failures, including:
  • Faulty or short-circuited capacitors
  • Open or damaged resistors
  • Cold or degraded solder joints
  • Damaged or lifted PCB traces
  • Detect defects related to integrated circuits (ICs), such as:
  • Functional malfunctions
  • Power supply or input/output signal issues
  • Lack of or inconsistent communication between components
  • Perform repair or refurbishment of electronic boards when technically and economically viable
  • Clearly and accurately document components to be replaced under manufacturer warranty

Soldering and Precision Work

  • Perform high-precision soldering on through-hole (THT) and surface-mount components (SMT/SMD, QFN, small BGA)
  • Conduct advanced visual inspections using appropriate inspection and analysis equipment
  • Repair PCB traces and perform micro-level interventions on multilayer boards in accordance with quality standards

Testing and Functional Validation

  • Use shared test benches between the RMA and production departments
  • Perform complete and final functional testing after repairs to ensure equipment compliance
  • Provide technical support to production operators for complex issues
  • Effectively use electronic measurement and analysis tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, internal test equipment, etc.)

Documentation and Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare detailed technical reports including failure description, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and repair time
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to improve product reliability and maintainability
  • Contribute to the optimization and standardization of diagnostic and repair procedures

Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing

  • Share best practices in advanced diagnostics and precision repair
  • Act as a technical reference and support team skill development


Skills and Qualifications

  • College diploma (DEC) in industrial electronics, programmable electronics, industrial IT, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in advanced component-level electronic repair
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (strong asset)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electronic schematics
  • Proficiency in fine soldering techniques for through-hole (THT) and surface-mount (SMT/SMD) components, including 0402 / 0603 formats (asset)
  • Strong expertise in component-level diagnostics and complex electronic failure analysis
  • Regular use of electronic measurement and analysis tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, specialized test equipment)
  • Good knowledge and application of IPC quality, repair, and inspection standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-7711 / IPC-7721, IPC-J-STD-001)
  • Functional fluency in French (spoken and written)
  • Technical English proficiency (reading and understanding technical documentation)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Autonomous, detail-oriented, and rigorous
  • Strong team player with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment

Sous la supervision du Directeur du département des retours clients (RMA), le/la Technicien(ne) senior en électronique est responsable du diagnostic, de la réparation, du reconditionnement et de la validation fonctionnelle des cartes électroniques et des équipements Haivision. Le candidat idéal possède une expertise approfondie en analyse de défaillances électroniques complexes et démontre une capacité exceptionnelle à identifier rapidement des anomalies à l’aide d’outils d’analyse et de mesure électronique (p. ex. équipements de test internes, oscilloscopes, multimètres, etc.), ainsi qu’à effectuer des réparations de haute précision avec rigueur et efficacité.


Responsibilities

Diagnostic et réparation

  • Analyser et diagnostiquer des défaillances sur des circuits électroniques complexes et des équipements de haute technologie
  • Identifier avec précision les causes de pannes, notamment :
  • Condensateurs défectueux ou en court-circuit
  • Resistances ouvertes ou sectionnées
  • Soudures froides ou dégradées
  • Traces de circuits imprimés (PCB) endommagées ou arrachées
  • Détecter les défauts liés aux circuits intégrés (CI) :
  • Dysfonctionnements fonctionnels
  • Défauts d’alimentation ou de signaux d’entrée/sortie
  • Absence ou incohérence de communication entre composants
  • Effectuer la réparation ou le reconditionnement des cartes électroniques lorsque cela est techniquement et économiquement viable
  • Documenter de façon claire et rigoureuse les composants à remplacer dans le cadre des garanties manufacturières


Soudure et interventions de précision

  • Réaliser des travaux de soudure de haute précision sur composants traversants (THT) et montés en surface (CMS/SMD, QFN, petits BGA)
  • Effectuer des inspections visuelles avancées à l’aide d’équipements d’inspection et d’analyse adaptés
  • Réparer des traces et effectuer des micro-interventions sur des PCB multicouches, conformément aux normes de qualité

Tests et validation fonctionnelle

  • Utiliser les bancs de tests partagés entre le département RMA et la production
  • Réaliser les tests fonctionnels complets et finaux après réparation afin d’assurer la conformité des équipements
  • Apporter un soutien technique aux opérateurs de production lors de problématiques complexes
  • Utiliser efficacement les instruments de mesure et d’analyse électronique (oscilloscope, multimètre, équipements de test internes, etc.)


Documentation et amélioration continue

  • Rédiger des rapports techniques détaillés incluant la description de la panne, l’analyse de la cause racine, les actions correctives et le temps d’intervention
  • Collaborer étroitement avec les équipes d’ingénierie afin d’améliorer la fiabilité et la maintenabilité des produits
  • Contribuer à l’optimisation et à la standardisation des procédures de diagnostic et de réparation


Mentorat et partage d’expertise

  • Partager les meilleures pratiques en matière de diagnostic avancé et de réparation de précision
  • Agir comme référence technique et soutenir le développement des compétences au sein de l’équipe



Compétences et Qualifications

  • Diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) en électronique industrielle, électronique programmable, informatique industrielle ou domaine connexe, ou toute combinaison équivalente de formation et d’expérience pertinente
  • Minimum de 5 à 7 ans d’expérience en réparation électronique avancée au niveau composant
  • Expérience en environnement manufacturier ou industriel (atout majeur)
  • Excellente capacité de lecture et d’interprétation de schémas électroniques
  • Maîtrise des techniques de soudure fine sur composants traversants (THT) et montés en surface (CMS/SMD), incluant les formats 0402 / 0603 (atout)
  • Solide expertise en diagnostic au niveau composant et en analyse de défaillances électroniques complexes
  • Utilisation courante des instruments de mesure et d’analyse électronique, tels que l’oscilloscope, l’analyseur logique, le multimètre et les équipements de test spécialisés
  • Bonne connaissance et application des normes IPC en matière de qualité, de réparation et d’inspection. (e.g.: IPC-A-610, IPC-7711 / IPC-7721, IPC-J-STD-001)
  • Maîtrise fonctionnelle du français, à l’oral et à l’écrit
  • Anglais technique permettant la lecture et la compréhension de documentation technique
