Job Description

Overview

The Role-Based Training Manager leads the strategic design, implementation, and evolution of role-based training and qualification programs across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Training, this role ensures alignment of training approaches with operational, technical, and regulatory expectations while supporting overall business performance.

This position includes direct reports and provides leadership to a training team responsible for delivering standardized learning solutions. The Manager sets direction, establishes priorities, and ensures alignment between training, business needs, and compliance requirements, while enabling scalable and effective training through optimized processes and systems.

A key aspect of the role is maintaining enterprise oversight and decision-making authority on training design quality, program structure, and the management of role-based training within Candu Academy (Candu's Learning Management System). While execution and detailed accountability reside within respective functional teams and system roles, the Manager provides governance, direction, and approval to ensure consistency, integrity, and alignment across the organization.

Your role

  • Lead the design, implementation, and governance of role based training programs across the organization, ensuring alignment with procedural, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with functional leaders as the primary training liaison to assess needs, define competency requirements, and oversee the development of customized training plans for all key roles.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the training team, ensuring consistent delivery of high quality training through workshops, e learning, in app modules, and other instructional methods.
  • Oversee the evaluation of training effectiveness, ensuring programs meet industry standards and organizational expectations; implement improvements based on data, feedback, and performance outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on training metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms; present insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure strong collaboration across IT, HR, Digital Solutions and other support departments to maintain alignment and support collective training objectives.
  • Lead the optimization, automation, and digitization of internal systems and processes to enhance training delivery, accessibility, and qualification tracking.
  • Manage compliance monitoring for employee training plans and qualification packages, ensuring timely completion and adherence to regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence within the training function.
  • Support the broader training organization as needed to ensure seamless learning and service delivery.

Required Interfaces:
  • Department Heads.
  • IT, HR, and other support departments.
  • Senior Leadership Team.
  • Employees across all business units.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Training, Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field (asset).
  • 10+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or competency management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles and experience applying them in program design (asset).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Workday or other Learning Management Systems/HR systems is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence without direct authority.
  • Detail oriented, adaptable, and able to manage unexpected changes effectively.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication abilities.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, customer focus and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organized, with strong planning, prioritization, and decision making skills.

Work Locations:
  • Primary location: Mississauga, ON.
  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
