Position Description:
CGI is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Developer to join the team responsible for the Wealth Digital Wealth Platform, a modern cloud-native platform transforming the digital wealth management experience. This is a hands-on technical role for a senior software professional who enjoys owning features from concept through production while working across backend services, frontend applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and deployment automation. You'll collaborate with a high-performing engineering team to design, build, test, deploy, and support scalable solutions using Go, Next.js, PostgreSQL, and cloud technologies. AI-assisted software development is a core part of the engineering workflow, and you'll leverage modern AI coding tools to accelerate delivery while applying sound engineering judgment and maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and quality. This is a full-time permanent opportunity based in one of CGI's Atlantic Canada offices, including Halifax, NS; Moncton or Fredericton, NB; Stratford, PEI; or St. John's, NL, with a hybrid work model requiring three days per week onsite.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support end-to-end features across Go microservices, Next.js applications, PostgreSQL databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Develop scalable REST APIs and maintain API specifications to support web applications, integrations, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Design and implement secure, reliable workflows supporting modern AI-driven capabilities and platform integrations.
• Extend and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, data models, reporting solutions, and data projections while following safe deployment practices.
• Build and maintain containerized deployment solutions, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud environments using Docker or Podman, Terraform, and modern DevOps practices.
• Develop comprehensive automated testing across unit, integration, API, end-to-end, and performance testing to ensure high software quality.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical design sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with software developers, architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Mentor team members, share technical knowledge, and contribute to engineering standards and platform documentation.
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize application performance, and support the ongoing evolution of the Wealth platform.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10 or more years of professional software development experience with a strong backend or platform engineering focus.
• Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Go.
• Experience designing and developing microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, database migrations, and performance tuning.
• Experience developing modern web applications using TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with container technologies including Docker or Podman and modern CI/CD pipeline automation.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar technologies as part of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of automated testing practices, including unit, integration, API, end-to-end, and performance testing.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Assets
The following qualifications would be considered assets:
• Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC), event streaming, or logical replication technologies.
• Experience designing or integrating AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or LLM-based workflows.
• Knowledge of multi-tenant SaaS architectures and cloud-native application design.
• Experience with Terraform, Keycloak, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with micro frontend architectures.
• Knowledge of wealth management, investment platforms, securities, or financial services.
• Experience with modern testing tools such as Playwright, k6, Bruno, or Trivy.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,-$, CAD. This role is an existing vacancy.
