Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for casual Front Desk staff position at North Preston Community Centre and Cole Harbour Community Centre in the Recreation Programming division of Parks & Recreation.

Front Desk staff provide frontline customer service support to both staff and the public in Community Recreation facilities, provide accurate and timely information about services provided by Recreation Programming and report directly to the Administrative Support.

Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

WORK STATUS: Casual, hourly.
HOURS OF WORK: Various shifts including days, evenings and weekends. Weekend availability required and flexibility to work additional hours when available.
SALARY: $19.85 per hour as per the collective agreement between NSGEU Local 222 and HRM.
WORK LOCATION: North Preston Community Centre and Cole Harbour Community Centre.
CLOSING DATE: Applications will be received until 11:59 pm Wednesday August 5, 2026.
This is a bargaining unit position. External applicants will only be considered if there are no qualified bargaining unit candidates.
