Job description

Join HRPA as a Designer & Web Specialist and Bring Our Brand to Life!

You’re a creative and versatile designer who understands that great design is more than how something looks; it shapes how people connect with a brand. You’re equally comfortable developing an eye-catching campaign graphic, designing an intuitive landing page or refining the details that make a digital experience feel polished and cohesive.

You combine strong visual instincts with technical confidence, thoughtful collaboration, and a commitment to accessible design.

Position Title: Designer & Web Specialist Location: Toronto, Hybrid (In-Office 2-Days Per Week) Type: Full-Time Existing Vacancy: Yes Target Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 Annual About us: The HRPA supports HR professionals in Ontario and enables organizations to unlock the human potential that exists in their workplaces. Serving a community of over 25,000 members and students across Ontario, we strive to empower HR professionals. With a core commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA), we support each member with the tools, knowledge and community they need to lead and transform workplaces across Ontario.

We are creating an exciting new role within our Marketing & Growth team and are looking for a Designer & Web Specialist to elevate HRPA’s visual identity and digital presence across every audience touchpoint.

Key Responsibilities: The Designer & Web Specialist, reporting to the Marketing Manager, will lead the creation of compelling visual assets and help maintain an engaging, accessible and best-in-class website experience.

You will translate campaign briefs, content strategies and organizational priorities into creative work that is polished, purposeful, and unmistakably HRPA.

Creative Production: Conceptualize and produce visual assets for digital and print channels, including social media, email, web, advertising, events, presentations, infographics and brochures.

Web Design and Management: Maintain and update HRPA’s website, create new pages and campaign landing pages, and ensure content remains accurate, visually consistent and easy to navigate.

Accessible Digital Experiences: Incorporate inclusive design principles and ensure web and creative materials align with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards, HRPA’s IDEA strategy and organizational brand guidelines.

Brand Stewardship: Serve as an in-house resource for creative and brand guidance, helping ensure a consistent and professional visual identity across internal and external communications.

Design Systems: Develop and maintain templates, style guides and asset libraries that enable teams across HRPA to create consistent, on-brand materials.

Creative Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across marketing, content, social media and email to bring integrated campaigns to life across multiple channels.

Continuous Improvement: Conduct website quality reviews, apply SEO best practices and recommend improvements to visual design, navigation and user experience.

Emerging Formats: Support video, short-form social content, animation and motion graphics as required while bringing forward new ideas, tools and design approaches.

Qualifications We’re Excited About: Education: College diploma or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, web design, fine arts, digital media or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Experience: 3 - 5 years of professional experience in graphic design, web design, or a related creative role.

Demonstrated experience producing creative assets for digital, print, social media, email and web.

Experience maintaining websites through a content management system such as WordPress, Sitefinity, or Drupal.

Experience designing for accessibility standards, including AODA and WCAG compliance.

Experience applying and maintaining brand guidelines across varied materials and channels.

Experience in a marketing team, agency, association, or not-for-profit environment is an asset.

Design Expertise: Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, along with a strong understanding of typography, color, composition and layout.

Web Knowledge: Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for webpage editing and email template customization.

Additional Creative Skills: Familiarity with video editing or motion graphics tools such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects or Canva is an asset.

Creative Thinking: Able to translate briefs, ideas and business objectives into engaging visual solutions tailored to the audience and channel.

Project Management: Highly organized and able to manage multiple creative projects and deadlines without sacrificing accuracy or quality.

Collaboration: Comfortable presenting creative recommendations, receiving feedback and explaining design decisions to colleagues from non-design backgrounds.

Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating creativity, versatility, technical skill and attention to detail is required with your application.

Values-Driven: Committed to accessible, representative and inclusive design.

What’s in it for you?

This is an opportunity to make a visible impact in a newly created role and help shape how HRPA’s brand evolves. You’ll have the creative freedom to explore new ideas, build meaningful design systems, and improve the digital experiences of more than 25,000 members and students. You’ll join an inclusive, collaborative team that values curiosity, innovation, and the unique perspective you bring to work.

Ready to bring fresh ideas and exceptional design to HRPA? We’d love to see your work!

We invite all interested individuals to apply and encourage applications from people with disabilities, Indigenous, Black and racialized individuals, as well as people from a diversity of ethnic and cultural origins, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the Ontario Human Rights Code, HRPA will provide accommodation throughout the recruitment, selection and assessment process to applicants with disabilities.

If selected to participate in the process, please inform the HR Department of the nature of any accommodation required to support your full and equal participation.
