Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting to lead technical accounting, financial reporting, consolidations, audit activities, and internal controls across a complex, multi-entity organization. This leadership role is ideal for a CPA with deep accounting expertise, strong business acumen, and a passion for building and developing high-performing teams.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
- Lead the preparation and review of complex accounting transactions, including revenue recognition, inventory, fixed assets, financing arrangements, and equity-related activities.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Perform technical accounting research and provide guidance on the application of ASPE standards.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and best practices that support consistent financial reporting.
Consolidations & Corporate Accounting
- Manage multi-entity consolidations, including elimination entries and reporting across various business units.
- Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Partner with operational stakeholders to support accurate financial reporting and business decision-making.
Controls & Process Improvement
- Review complex balance sheet reconciliations and ensure adherence to internal control requirements.
- Evaluate and strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate risk and improve reporting accuracy.
- Maintain supporting documentation, process maps, and control frameworks.
Audit, Compliance & Tax Support
- Lead the annual external audit process and serve as the primary liaison for auditors.
- Ensure compliance with indirect tax requirements, including GST/HST/QST reporting.
- Support the preparation and documentation of SR& ED claims and other compliance-related initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and day-to-day leadership to members of the accounting team.
- Lead recruitment, performance management, and employee development activities.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous improvement-focused culture within Finance.
- Identify training and development opportunities that enhance team effectiveness and support organizational goals.
Business Partnership & Special Projects
- Collaborate with Finance and operational leaders to improve processes, increase efficiencies, and support strategic initiatives.
- Participate in special projects and other finance-related initiatives as required.
What We're Looking For
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting and financial reporting responsibilities.
- Strong experience with multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting.
- Solid knowledge of ASPE and Canadian accounting practices.
- Experience managing audits, internal controls, and complex reconciliations.
- Previous people leadership experience is considered a strong asset.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
