As a key player in the financial services marketplace of Northern Ontario, we are excited to announce that we are currently seeking a Data Governance Analyst.

The Data Governance Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, reliable, and compliant data management and reporting across the organization. This position supports the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and reporting frameworks that promote data integrity, consistency, security, and effective decision-making while supporting compliance with evolving privacy and regulatory requirements.

The Data Governance Analyst is responsible for monitoring data quality, validating and reconciling data, maintaining key data assets such as data dictionaries and business glossaries, and supporting audits and regulatory reviews. The role also contributes to data protection practices by supporting data loss prevention (DLP), sensitive data classification, and security controls in collaboration with internal teams and vendors.

Acting as a liaison between business units, data teams, and technology stakeholders, the Data Governance Analyst helps define data ownership, supports reporting requirements, and promotes data governance best practices. The role provides guidance and training on data governance, privacy, regulatory reporting, and responsible data use while contributing to initiatives that improve organizational data maturity and literacy.

Preferred candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Information Management, or a related field. Professional certification in data governance, data management (, CDMP), or regulatory compliance is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data lifecycle management, data quality frameworks, data ownership practices, and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Experience developing and implementing data governance policies, standards, procedures, and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, SQL) and reporting platforms such as Power BI, with familiarity with core banking systems and financial data structures.
  • Knowledge of privacy requirements, data security practices, and regulatory expectations related to data management; experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, or compliance activities is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and provide guidance to promote data literacy, AI literacy, and responsible data practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Purview is an asset.
